I have a little tip for you but can't say it really works or helping. I met people by intrest in the same things like WAM things or mlp thing. Sometimes i send a pm message to someone that i like the art from or having the same intrest. Like you i met you by the same intrest. Or how about social groups like chat groups or groups with same intrest or just groeps that doing friendly chatting. That's how i met new people.
