Big Doom (2016) Multiplayer Update (including free DLC)

Doom v6.66 is out
For whatever reason, Id Software is trying to rejuvenate the new Doom's multiplayer scene once again. You might assume it's to sell more of the DLC packs, but no: the multiplayer DLC is now free to everyone. So if you were curious about the DLC-exclusive maps, weapons or demons but not curious enough to buy them, they're all yours now.
The multiplayer itself is also getting some noteworthy changes, mostly in regards to its progression system. No longer are you at the whim of random chance: equipment now has specific requirements in order to unlock each piece, so you can work towards getting whatever items you want. If you already have all the equipment in the game, veteran players have the option to restart their progress and try out the new unlock system.
The controversial hack modules are also gone. Instead, there's a new rune system. Runes give players enhanced abilities, but while hack modules were consumable, runes give players persistent upgrades. While I'm sure purists would prefer the hack modules and the runes were both gone, I do find it a tantalizing prospect to be able to customize your character's abilities to your play style.
So yeah, if you felt a bit of hankerin' for Doom's multiplayer but wasn't sure if it was worth bothering with, now's a good time to try it out.

But that's just me being pedantic. The only thing I'd complain about the new update would be its sheer size, which is understandable in order to contain all of the DLC. Then again, my boyfriend hasn't played the game in some time, and neither of us have played the multiplayer since the open beta (I haven't really touched it since then), so we can't really say it affects us, but still...
And me, I'm just a Doom nut, and was happy to give up $40 extra to a game I really, really liked. XD
Is there anyone still playing Multiplayer, or has that long died out?
At least, unless I'm missing something?
It shows a medal\badge thing for 'DLC BRUTE' but I have no idea if this is something beyond alerting other players I paid for it or if they even can see it.
In the end I guess they can choose to do with it as they please, but if there is some nod/thanks it doesnt seem very noticable.
Only slightly-miffed, game is still fun, imagine anyone who picked up the DLC within the past few months likely is far more pissed :v
On the one hand I can understand if the DLC sales were so small it wasn't worth it dev-resource wise to, like, add in an exclusive pattern...
...but on the other hand, being offered 'want to reset your progress???' is just bewildering.
AFAIK the only thing it does is remove the last remaining benefit of being a DLC owner ( still having the things I purchased despite being lvl1 again ) and then I get the fun of... reunlocking the items I already had.
It almost sounds like it was a joke that somehow made it in the final product by accident.
Both for wanting to get one last use of that cash spent, but also cause I like my grenade launcher :B
But I still think they have to do much much more to try and revive the multyplayer...
