Playing around with my style
I'm trying really hard to not make this a sappy journal forgive me if it comes out sad, its not meant to be.
Also I'm having a hard time acclimating to typing for long periods with my fake nails x.x
Anyway, for a long LONG time I've been very unhappy with my work. Around early 2015 was the last time I felt truly happy with my work and progress. Now don't get me wrong, I know I've progressed a lot, and trust me when I say that there are days where I really DO enjoy the piece I made, but those are few and far between.
I feel as if my art has sort of hit a cap if you will, nothing drastic, but I feel I haven't improved as much as I'd like to have done in the past two years. My art is fine, sure, but I want to be better.
I recently found a new muse in fashion, I really enjoy drawing my characters in various fashion choices, I've even thought about making some YCHs that are based on outfits I designed! Either way, I've also taken muse of a few artists that I REALLY enjoy the art of, and as my style has always been this mix of my own style, and some bits and pieces that were inspired by other artists. I've looked very deeply into certain pieces to see what I really really like, and I'll throw them into sketches when I can here and there, and tweak it until I find my own flow. In no way is it any sort of stealing or tracing, it's simply like "Oh I like how THAT artist draws noses, Ohh! I like how that one draws ears! Lemme give them a shot making something similar together!" It's more like that.
So anyway, once I finish my commissions I'll be really seeing how I feel out this style I've been dabbling in. I personally think it's getting better each time I do it, and I don't think it's drastically different, it's just more focused on detail, and neater pieces. I'm debating about how the eyes are changing since I know many like how I draw eyes now and I don't disagree. But either way, commissions and the like will remain in the old style seeing as that's what people paid for, as well as I don't know how people will like this style so I don't feel comfortable selling it until I'm more comfortable with it, and make sure you all take it well.
Either way, if it doesn't work out then it doesn't work out, and my style will remain the same, with maybe a few changes I really like.
So, hope you guys will like it when I can show you!

I feel this so bad. I've been feeling like I've been spinning my wheels the past year. I'm looking forward to trying to change things soon. Good luck with yours!
