Waiting list is cancelled
I was trying to help people in waiting list to get their turn faster by making some strict rules in my commissions work model.
I was expecting some negative feedback, but this shit is still boiling. People are still coming to my page and bitching about it in the worst way, telling me "You violating some shit i have no idea about and woun't provide any info about it".
I said... SO many times, we CAN have different opinions and buisness models, you're NOT obligated to do this if you don't like the rules. I can NOT stand this shit mentally anymore.
I know, many people, many opinions, one me.
I am constantly getting questions "When you gonna be opened?" "How long you think it'll take you to open some comissions slots?" and every time i have to leave them with depressing "I don't know".
I liked to bring peoples ideas to life. But the more i was doing it, the more it came to me, just how much time is dedicated to negotiate so much stuff.
Whole this time could be spent actually drawing something.
I know i'm getting paid for doing this but, i prefer to draw stuff rather than reading and bending to textwalls of what is basicaly "FUCK YOU" to my artistic freedom and get 100$ for it.
Not everyone is like that. Lots of lovely people i actually enjoyed working with.
I'm not in a good place already in life and mentally, i don't want to make it even worse.
I will do YCH auctions occasionally, but i think i'm done with comissions for now.
I, am, sorry.

You should just block and blacklist people who can't follow your rules. You're not obligated to put up with people insulting you or how you work.
Looking forward to the YCH's tho! Been tempted in the past by 'em
A lot of good artists are going away from commissioning to not have to deal with the hassle of getting their creative talents shrugged off.
Look forward to seeing these ychs however, im always a huge fan of giving artistic freedom myself though.
Last time I tried to make one NSFW piece somebody came to me 'in order to get my money you will need to make another NSFW piece hmph' and when I refused I was called names. When blocked it didn't really stop. Sigh.
Sorry you have to go through this as well. T_T Big shame. I was hoping your list would clear, was looking for a slot myself but more than anything I want other artists to live peacefully.
Good thing you canceled the list and shared your feelings with us. I def appreciate it. I wish you the best! Get some rest! You deserve it.
They'll ask, "Art sounds fun!" And, you know, it is, in a way. But it's also incredibly hard work. We each have our own workflow developed over years and decades of trial, error, research, networking, etc. This is well worth your price.
You only have each minute once in your life - you are allowed to make space for your existence, your privacy, your business, and your person. You are allowed to disallow anyone entrance to any part of you. And, honestly, you must disallow people from parts of your life.
This step you've taken, disabling the business idea of a "waiting list", is necessary - and it's common in business. Small business owners (I am one, I should mention) must protect themselves. By placing boundaries and raising expectations, we raise our value and we eliminate more bargain hunters.
Keep up the good work. Try, fail, and make choices.
I'll keep an eye out on any YCH auctions you'll be doing in the future
I just want you happy and stress free! I love you skygracer
Sometimes I'll get a response a few days or a week later, but I'm honestly a really patient person. I tend to wait for the artist to make first contact on the status, even if it's a simple things saying they're really busy or sommet. (The longest wait time I've ever has was about 8 months, but there was almost constant communication, so it was okay, and the artist made the effort to contact me first.)
Like Deirdre said, and the old saying goes, "Leave it to the FEW to ruin it for the MANY."
It's unsettling to hear about this, Skygrace, as you are a GREAT artist, and perhaps you may change your mind in the future, but I can also understand your decision. There's a lot of mental stress associated with working with people, especially the less savory ones.
I hope you can pull through and get your drive back, even if it is only YCH pieces. Take whatever time you need in order relax, and we'll still be here to cheer you on and appreciate your hard work!
Not directing any negativity towards you Sky, just... I seriously hate it when a few peoples' dickish behavior ruins things for everyone who actually was following the rules and being respectful. It sucked in grade school and it still makes no sense today. That being said I don't blame you for needing to take a step back away from all this bad vibe and rudeness. I hope things get better and you're able to tone all these others out!
I'm trying to do a few commissions a month for patrons only, but there are sooo many non-patron people wanting a commission...and i have many personal works that i want to get done >.< plus, i don't even have that 'terms and services' thing for commissions
I hope you'll be ok tho
I seriously don't understand why people act like that. I've always seen it as if you want to commission an artist then you should be as respectful as you can and not complain to them. I'm the type of person to get curious when a commission is taking a while, but when that happens I just ask if there's any update not question why I haven't received one; and if there's a rule I'm not sure about I ask about it instead of calling it stupid and complaining.
You shouldn't have to deal with people being so disrespectful to you, you're a great artist and you were very reasonable with your commission rules. Hopefully if you do reopen commission you won't have to deal with that shit again and if anybody tries to start that again I recommend just canceling their commission because it's not worth it to try to negotiate with those kinds of people, I'm sure there'll be plenty more people who would love to get art from you that would actually be respectful.
Best of luck with the YCHs, I'm definitely going to try to snag one when I can! Hopefully you won't have to deal with those people anymore.
It sucks that assholes ruin nice things for the people, like me, who are actually willing to wait and understand that you were trying to make your way down the list.
With a commission you have full control of what is being drawn etc. YCH would be better with the occassional AB piece to help people over bidding-wars or insane ammounts of cash xD
Yeah, some assholes have ruined it for the rest, and it's a shame you had to deal with such idiots, I don't see why there should be any problem in a commission, but maybe those should be named and shamed so it stops this problem for another artist and the community in general!
EDIT: yeah theres no pretty sure about it. The post still exists and you can go back and read it. It says you cant post the variations.
You have a great and unique way with style and technique, so I hope that you still will post some personal artwork or other projects you have in mind in the future.
I hope things may calm down for you soon, you deserve to feel good just like any other person, you are human and not a machine
Do a few YCHs, get them mad AB monies, then maybe come back to small prompt (one line) artistic freedom comissions? so the commer gives a tiny idea and you get to go wild with that. i'm all for artistic freedom, i love seeing what people come up with. but others aren't like it, i know.
do not be afraid to say no to someone, there's always another commissioner lined up for you.
I have seen a few people question the alts and so on part of your terms, i've not read into it much, but this is one of the things with patreon, i don't touch that so wont comment.
I'll keep an eye out for what you post up, in te hopes i can get something and you allow for herms :)
Mostly, what i'm getting at, is dont ruin something for the actions of the few, and dont let the wants of the many dictate how you do things.
I would have loved a commission from you with artistic freedom. Its awesome to see the version an artist would come up with and the variance in styles. It'd be a shame to see your amazing work end. Either way good luck with your future endeavors!
Peace!~
No idea why that is, but I experienced that the more people pay, like full paintings and more characters, the easier they become to negotiate with...
I had it several times that those who pay in the range of 20 to 50 dollars wanted the most changes and wrote the longest texts which sucks ass if you want to maintain a certain workflow
Do what do you feel it's best!
I hope you reopen in the future with a better experience, and if you do I would be happy to let you have fun with my characters lol.
I'm so sorry to hear that.
Artistic Freedom is what I survive on, nothings better than just letting the artist have fun with the piece.
So few seem to agree with me.
I've seen that work out really well for others.
please dont hit me
Keep up the amazing work!
Really feel like there should be a system in place of trusted and distrusted commissioners so artists know what to expect
