Getting scoped again, go me. u_u

So I haven't been keeping up with journals very well on here, but back in... uhhhh late April, I think, I ended up in the ER with what they diagnosed as a peptic ulcer. I did my follow up afterwards, and took my meds diligently, and for awhile things were okay. The past month or so, though, I've had really bad GERD/acid reflux symptoms, no matter what I eat or what medication I take, and antacids aren't doing shit for me. I talked to a gastroenterologist, and he seems to think it's not an ulcer (so explain the screaming pain that sent me to the ER, plz?) but possible allergy related? This is despite the CT scan with contrast the ER did, so I have no idea.
Anyway, I have an appointment for an upper endoscopy on Friday so they can take a look around and try and figure things out. It's be nice to get through a year without going under anesthesia. u_u

But yeah, I feel your pain on the acid bit. at times it drives me utterly mad. Doesn't help I occasionally have to hoark my guts out.
Back before any of my diagnosis I relied on a rather old, but effective home remedy.
Baking soda dissolved in water. Baking soda is a strong base, so it neutralizes the stomach acid. I think it was half teaspoon/cup of water. Like regular meds, adjust strength as needed It does not taste good, and is a stop gap type treatment, but it usually works. On the short term it could help until they figure out your proper treatment.
If it turns out to be Celiac for you, and you want some advice, feel free to ask. The foot note in my Journals here reads "the Celiac cat". Been at it for over ten years and am always willing to share experience or advice
