Buying the rights to a design?

Someone of furry amino asked if they could buy the rights to use my Kumomo closed species design. I've never seen this before and couldn't really find anything when looking it up. What does it mean?

I think they may be asking to pay you money so they can use your species - and essentially do whatever they want with it. Not sure though - either way sounds kind of sketchy.

Pretty much what Tiramizu said. Be sure to have rules if you wanna do that. Like "Single Usage Rights" to keep them from making more than one, unless they pay more otherwise. n' also the reselling, and possible redesigning the design they confirm with you. Sometimes there's instances when they "breed" them to create a hybrid of whatever else with the species, maybe have a rule on that, too.

I offered to make them a custom adopt instead because it seems sketchy and they can do whatever with their adopt but they stopped responding so :/

well, it helps to go on their page n' see if you can find any info on them, if they draw their own stuff, if any journals asking for money with nothing to offer... but since they don't even respond to you after that, clearly they were expecting a "yes" or "no" and nothing else. soyeah. that's even sketchy in itself. I guess you can just put it out of your head, haha
