The big thing is separating fiction and reality. Like, don't just call random people on the streets "trap." Or, hell, even art of characters you don't know. But if you choose to have one of your characters be traps.
But it's also as Robin said above, trans people aren't traps. I wouldn't even refer to a drag queen as a trap. Seems explicitly like a fiction/porn term.
It only depends on the person your directing it to...But yes and no. I think we shouldn't label people cause they was feeling more into feminine roles then masculine
It's offensive if you're using it as a blanket term for trans people. If you are actually using it to describe someone crossdressing to fool others for fun or pleasure, then that's not offensive.
Only retards think it's offensive, Von. Ignore them.
In all circumstances whether used as a term of endearment or insult, trap is rather the compliment, because in most cases, the person is trying to look like the opposite sex.
I say this from the viewpoint of 'being' a trap.
I'm a trans girl {born male} and I would find it not necessarily insulting, but more hurtful, as it would be someone acknowledging that I look like a guy pretending to be a girl, and I would assume most other trans people would agree with that. However, the idea of a guy dressing as a girl for sexual reasons and calling themselves Trap isn't offensive, as long as it is made clear that the character does normally identify as a guy, and they are just dressing this way because they want to. Basically, as long as it's not being overtly disrespectful to trans people, then I don't see a problem with it.
As an intellectual person, I'm offended by the idea that the solution to only having two genders is adding another finite set of genders. But I'm weird that way. :)
