How was your 2017 year?

Hi guys,
Well I've not been super active here, erm shorry. I'm trying to get into the habbit of being on social media, but you know Instagram is so much easier than posting stuff on FA.
But I miss my furry friends and was wondering how ya'll were doing?
This past year, I got a job in March as a barista and made some new friends,
I got engaged over the summer and have been busily planning a wedding for next summer.
Lots of hikes, lots of protests and marches.
My ferret almost died because the vet in town doesn't know ferrets but it's alright, we took him to a better vet and he's now doing wonderfully.
I finished up the mural for the coffee shop and have since then been getting offers to paint other murals. I also finished up an awesome comish for
Nimtai and when I posted it on Facebook I ended up with a few more commissions lined up. She's an artist as well so you should go check her out.
Got a free ski pass this year, wish there'd be more snow.

My year wasn't bad, just stressful but ended well, having broken a year long art block and got a couple pieces done in November and a couple started in December.
Anyway, I see you are open for commissions again and I'd like to get in your queue once more for another Graphite tigress. Say the word and I will send payment. :)

It sounds like you had a banger year. I am glad you get to go hiking! It is super important.

Seriously, it was not the worst year I've ever had but a very close second.
I... did not have a good year. My severance ran out in June and I went on unemployment. I cranked out almost a hundred applications (yeah, surprised me, too) and got three interviews for IT jobs. None hired me. I took a job as a security guard to fill in, but quit when the hyper-stressful demands started affecting my health. I pushed around some IRA money and I think I have enough to retire. I'll know more in a couple of weeks.
How do you feel about cold weather?
Cold weather? Mmm. -2°F right now at midnight in beautiful downtown Exeter, with a steady 15-20 MPH wind. It never got above 10° all day. Another contact lives in Homer, Alaska. It's 34° at 8:00 PM up there.
but otherwise nothing of note directly affected my personal life in any way.
basically it wasn't a year i was happy with,
and is one i'm very glad to see over.
well my rent went up and my income didn't.
other then that, it was just another year.
mom and pop brick and mortar storefront retailing continues to decline
as does public transportation in a majority of non-urban areas.
these affect the quality of life everyone experiences, even if they don't think about it or expect them to.
while the popularity of hating logic has continued to increase, though it has also stimulated increased opposition.
so i guess maybe it wasn't all bad. still nothing wonderful to make me happy with it.
and i still haven't been told what 'greatness' is supposed to be good for,
or even what the hell that jabba the hut means by it.
i can still make pictures on the computer, that's good, and scratch build things for the little trains,
and still have a place to live where i can do these things, and still have enough left over from rent to eat human food,
though of lower quality. but these are all just non-losses. there's no new gains here.
i'm thankful for them, glad i still have, anything really.
i'm not really holding my breath for the coming year either, but there are more ways it could be better then there are it could be worse.
there's a big chance it could be a lot better, but still a small chance, if gets worse, it could be a lot worse.
so i really hope everyone thinks about what makes things better and worse, and regulates their own life accordingly.
if people do, and politics is only one part of that, how people treat each other and the planet, is the big one,
then things, really will get a lot better.

I'm gonna try my best to get my art improved and out there even more as well! Let's hope this year is better, too.
