More about Greg Bear

General
This morning I talked with the Suffolk police detective handling Greg's case. She still hasn't been able to locate Greg's sister. She was able to tell me that Greg died of a heart attack, though she couldn't go into specific detail. Greg is still in the Suffolk County Morgue. Because he's an ex-Navy man, it looks like the VA will inter his remains in a local military cemetery, though they could change their mind about it. If that happens, I'll pay to have Greg cremated, then scatter his ashes here in California. His trailer has been condemned by the city of Suffolk as an derelict building, and is still sealed pending family being located. Greg owned his home outright, but because the rent on his space hadn't been paid in four months, I was worried that the trailer park management would have it towed away somewhere and abandoned. However, they've done nothing, they can't touch it until given legal permission, but they are keeping an eye on it to make sure nobody breaks in. So, it's still a waiting game. Wish I had some really positive news to tell you, but for the time being Greg's estate is safe, and making sure his creative life remains intact is my main concern right now. Cross your fingers and say a prayer to the Cartoonist Gods that this comes out all right in the end. More about this mess later, as I get the details. Thank you all for you concern.
