#39: Long time... no journal.
Well, howdy y'all from Ohai, Southland, New Zealand.
Yes. That is now my home town, since September 2017.
Why has it taken me this long to write a post here?
That's mainly due to personal matters goin' on in my life. Complex matters of which I would prefer not to discuss here.
So, what does the future hold for me, this page & other areas of social media?
Well, I plan to put more time into getting my YouTube Channel going.
As a result of that, I am teachin' myself to use Blender for all of my video editing & composition needs.
I'm still using FL Studio for my sound engineering & I'm gettin' back into playing my bass guitar & guess what... I've recently started teachin' myself to play heavy metal drums... on a Roland V-Drum kit. =^/,..,^=
The idea with that is, even though it's still usin' drum samples, it serves as a "bridge" for me to get away from using drum samples, learning a new instrument & I will eventually replace each instrument in the kit, with acoustic drums.
That way, y'all will get to hear the sound of live drums & also live bass.
Eventually, I won't be needing to use drum samples & sampled bass either.
At this point, I'm looking at using my YouTube channel to promote my heavy metal music. I tend to travel a lot more now, granted I live "out in the middle of nowhere" & I wanna showcase some of the various points-of-interest that Southland has to offer. So, my channel will see a lot of "tourist" stuff, personal vlogs (if y'all can put up with me yammerin' on about shit nobody cares about), heavy metal music, the occasional tech video (Because I'm also an electronic engineer) & I may even throw in the odd "Behind the Scenes" videos (if that generates enough interest) too.
My F/A page is very much gonna remain "as is, where is." It's still in its infancy (mainly on account of me bein' inconsistent with my content) & I don't wanna chop-'n'-change things around too much.
My SoundCloud page may be used less & less, as time marches on. I keep floating the idea of actually shutting it down, granted how SoundCloud heavily restricts the amount of "total music time" one can upload.
I will eventually find that to be a major bottle neck. So, I'll reserve that for promoting only certain songs of mine.
Twitter... well, that is what it is. I hate Twitter. But, I will use it as a secondary notification thingy for when I upload my videos & that's all Twitter will be, for me.
I kinda take my Tumblr page semi-seriously, as I use it to post my works-in-progress (be it 3D modelling, to previews of my music). But, at this time, I'm still only having to access internet in a public place &... needless to say, some of the blogs I'm subscribed to on Tumblr are very N.S.F.W.
My FaceBook page will stay "as is, where is." Despite 95% of my posts on that page bein' listed as 'public' (I do that on purpose, despite FaceBook assumin' I'm some dumb shit that doesn't know how to change my privacy settings), it is my personal page & I do talk about politics a lot, over there. Mainly I prefer to keep it to New Zealand politics & my stance as an Anarcho-Capitalist & my FaceBook page will be the ONLY social media page, in which I talk about politics & other heavy subject matter.
Everywhere else, is all about the music, the scenery, the places I go & the people I see.
It's blatantly obvious that my skateboarding videos are done & dusted. There'll be no more of those for three reasons:
1.) My original idea of that was to showcase Picton & I no longer live there.
2.) Ohai's roads & footpaths are far too rough to even skate three feet, outta my own driveway.
3.) I DID buy an HX3 Hoverboard, but that didn't survive the trip to Southland (However, I do plan to eventually replace it).
I've also drawn up my own schedule to maintain. I've tied in my filming with my music recording, guitar, drums, bass & vocal practise sessions & also I've allowed time to work on my electronics too.
All of this will happen in my usual "production year" - that is between the first day of March, to the 25th day of November. That gives me nine months on & three months off.
At the time of writing this journal (as at February 2, 2018, 1616Hrs NZDST), I'm still on my production break.
However, as it draws to a close, I am getting some ground work done. Such as testing my camera, microphones, recording gear, video editing, sound engineering & ensuring all of my gear is working to my expectations, before I start filming for YouTube.
So, that is where I am at. I have a busy year ahead of me & I look forward to seein' some of you guys over at my YouTube Channel. Don't be a stranger now, ya here?
