I remember his role as Jumba in Lilo & Stich, he will be missed.

I have seen MASH when I was a kid, I did love that show. RIP David Ogden Stiers.

Saw this quote from Loretta Swit, who played Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan, about Stiers and the series finale.
“A few episodes before, Margaret had borrowed a book of poems from Winchester. He got angry with me at one point and made me return it. In real life, we had this running gag. I would tease David all the time that no one had his private phone number. He was very much his own person, very reclusive in a way. So, in the final episode Winchester gives Margaret the book back. I open it and read the inscription. David had written his phone number inside. That’s my real emotion on camera.”

I was so heart broken when I learned of his passing. I love David's work as Charles Emerson Winchester III. More his voice work in animation like Miyazaki films and disney.

One of my favorite scenes with the marine and the billiard ball XD.

I was surprised to see this earlier today. My sympathies to his family.

Also, with that scene, Winchester didn't get around to pointing out that the muscle relaxant cannot be administered orally.

That marine was headed for some real fun. Scary, but fun.

He did work safety videos for the State of Oregon. I was greatly surprised when I was told I had to see a certain video, and there he was...

Is that why MASH was free to watch recently? Shit, NOW I'm thankful for him... I miss him already.

That really is too bad. He was a great actor and created such a unique and memorable character in Winchester. He'll definitely be missed.

Hearing of his death hit me harder than I thought it would, and caught me by surprise. I certainly agree, he was good in everything he was in and he will be missed. :(

AND he improvised the "promises you don't intend to keep" part of that and the directors loved it so much they left it in.

That man had a talent for acting, voice work...I even remember him doing a narration for an audiobook--World war Z, where he voiced a Russian officer. Like Billy Graham, Robin Williams and John Candy, he was a master of his work and the world is lessened by his passing.

He was also in an episode of StarGate: Atlantis as one of the Replicators...

Still, I remember him more from MASH... He will be missed.

A toast to Charles Emerson Winchester III

Interesting.

MASH is still one of my favorite shows and I watch it quite often despite knowing the dialogues from memory now. It is a sad loss, in the last years we lost so many actors from that show, William Christopher, Alan Arbus, Wayne Rogers, Harry Morgan... *sigh*

holy cow, didn't know William Christopher died..man..that's a bummer.

My favorite episodes were...

·... when Winchester had the French Horn and B. J. and Hawkeye battled him with BO...

·... when Winchester and Col. Potter both got the mumps.

i liked the episode of when Winchester helped that one guy who stuttered..
and then the other one where he became a pill junkie.

When he helped that guy who stuttered, Winchester put that guy's cronies in their place.

Why? Winchester's sister stuttered and he knew that shit those guys pulled wasn't funny.

In that episode, Winchester was a stand-up kind of guy.

I very much enjoyed him on MASH. It is a sad loss.

Yeah I made a little noise too; hit me harder than I expected.

i'm a little sad about that.. now colonel potter, trapper, and I think frank(died awhile ago) are gone.

M*A*S*H* was one of my favorite shows when i was a kid . may he rest in peace .

I've always thought he was the best thing to happen to MASH. I really liked BJ and Potter, but Charles completely changed much of the show's dynamic. Frank was always this terrible person, that no one but Margret liked. He was always the antagonist of the series. Charles on the other hand was both an antagonist and protagonist. Sometimes within the same episode.

He was the antagonist when he had that French Horn... and a protagonist when he stuck
up for a young man who stuttered. Why? In the series, Winchester's sister had a speech
impediment, which enraged him when the boy's fellow soldiers mocked the poor guy.

Compared to Charles Emerson Winchester, Frank Burns was an asshole. Winchester was
definitely MORE human than Frank.
