Probably should clarify that that's not really a bad thing. I just notice a lot of artists were influenced by the art style of that show and while I'm not 100% you were, that's the guess I'd make.
Interesting observation. Though I've certainly never thought of MLP as one of my influences, it's likely that it ended up being one through the years without me even noticing.
Most people so far have also described my style as cartoony, and out of all modern contemporary cartoons I could compare my art to, MLP does seem like a main candidate...which is specially noticeable in my actual MLP fanart, hah.
Very expressive with line art that's relatively sharp, smooth and cartoonish.
Your color shading, however, is slightly more on the extreme side (with darks being pretty dark and brights being pretty bright).
Would you say the extreme shading is a drawback of mine? I've been pointed out in the past how I shade pics very bright and contrasting, so I'm wondering if it's something others would pass as an artistic preference or a fault that I should improve on.
I'd say your style of shading can be quite nice. Every once in a while, though, it looks like there are dark segments just placed on a character which could have used less of an instant gradient, instead of looking like a lightless area.
Smoothing out your shading in those situations would add a little extra polish to your art, I think.
Ahh I think I see what you mean. I should try paying extra attention to the illumination in a character in that case, making sure I don't overlook any lightless areas. And make sure I don't go too far with the contrast in my lighting.
Thanks a lot for your feedback! I welcome and appreciate it always.
