That's right kiddies! May the 5th is a very VERY minor holiday in Mexico that's celebrated by only the people of Puebla for the Battle of Puebla of 1867, where in the locals formed a militia and beat back the French. It was celebrated the following couple of years, then just remembered at most. Fast Forward to the 80's and american beer companies wanted to get the legals and illegals to suck down their beer. How do they do that? By marketing and making it a big deal to celebrate a non-holiday with fuck tons of beer and getting wasted.
And that kiddies, is the story of Drunk Mexican Day.

The Mexican holiday that Mexico itself doen't really acknowledge. They must scratch their heads at what goes on in America at times.
