My First MRI
I went in for an MRI today. They were checking my ears canals because I've been dealing with some hearing loss and there is no obvious explanation. Nothing tremendous yet and it hasn't impaired me, but it is concerning.
The MRI went well. I have now experienced 3 Tesla Magnetic Fields created by Magnets cooled by Liquid Helium and had Gadolinium injected into my blood as a tracer. The MRI is pretty noisy, but I still almost fell asleep while in it. The IV they put into my arm was almost the worst part of the whole experience, but what was really bad was when they took off all the tape they put on my arm to keep the IV still. OUCH! I am missing quite a bit of fur there now.
I'll likely find out next week what the results are, but perhaps as early as Friday. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

I can taste/smell when they flush IVs with Saline, however.

"Mrs. Simpson, what you're seeing is the radioactive dye we've injected into your husband's circulatory system..."
"But doctor, I haven't injected the dye yet..."
"Good lord..."

Nowadays they have open MRI machines that don't look much different than CT machines; much easier to handle, a lot less claustrophobic.

Don't worry about your fur...it'll grow back...Or you'll have a nifty new scar to talk about.
*Hugs*
Seriously, hope the tests come back and provide some insight that's curable.

I had a MRI recently as well. Won't know the results till the end of the month but the physical therapist is figuring I've got a disc pressing on a nerve thats been giving me issues...here's hopin' there's no serious nerve damage x__x

I remember getting irritated that I didn't get to see the scans, but my mom did, haaaaa.
I hope the results come back good for you *offers hugs*
And I'll probably never get to see my scans either.

Hopefully, your results will be okay when they arrive!
