Doom Eternal - The Sequel to Doom 2016

No, not Eternal Doom, the classic puzzle-heavy map pack from TeamTNT with gigantic levels. We're talkin' about a brand-new entry in the main Doom series:
Doom Eternal appears to be a reimagining of Doom 2: Hell on Earth, judging by its demon-infested urban environments. You can clearly see broken down power lines and traffic lights, along with the crumbling remains of bridges and buildings. Some classic Doom 2 baddies seem to be making a comeback as well, with creatures reminiscent of the arch-vile, arachnotron and pain elemental being visible; the latter 2 are particularly exciting to see since they've been absent from the series since Doom 64, way back in 1996.
There was an 8-year gap between the release of Doom 64 and Doom 3, then a whopping 12-year gap between Doom 3 and Doom 2016. Seeing a new mainline Doom game being announced this quickly after the last one is a genuine shock. But considering what an absolute joy Doom 2016 was, I'm more than ready for it. ;)
According to the teaser, there'll be actual gameplay shown off at this year's QuakeCon, so keep your eyes peeled!

If yes then you'll probably gain a pretty solid boost in performance.
(Gosh, that Cyberpunk trailer exploded my freaggin' brain to bits!! GAH ).
But still, while we PC gamers eagerly await for the full release of Brutal Doom v21 and it's campaign "Extermination Day" ...Console users are going to get their share of fun with this, no doubts.
Doom 4 was pretty good, after all. I only expect them to deliver and maybe add a few new things to the already nicely established new formula.
I'll probably grab this on steam myself if it gets solid reviews again.
Also Rage 2, yo... Can't wait for that either :D
I really wasn't expecting a new Doom game so soon, so I wasn't excitedly anticipating the announcement. I was just hoping Mario Maker Switch happens. XD
Technically speaking, Doom 2016 has already taken many assets and such from the "Original build".
I realized I missed a secret in Doom 2016 after passing a checkpoint, and I couldn't backtrack and get it.
Stopped playing it ever since.
That's right, I haven't finished Doom 2016 yet because of a stupid decision the developers made.
I recall the Rise of the Triad remake did it right (except for the bullshit score penalty)
And besides, even if you bought into that, where do The Master Levels, Final Doom and No Rest for the Living fit into the numbering scheme? XD
Brutal Doom 64 giving into the theory-crafting doesn't help either, considering the immense popularity of the Brutal mods. It's truly sad that BD64 is the only version of Doom 64 many people have ever played, with them not even being aware of Doom 64's existence prior to BD64's release.
I too was a big fan of Doom 64. Heck, that's part of why I hope they're not connected, as Doom 64 was such a cruelly perfect ending to the original series. Just leave it there and start afresh.
He outright changed the ending text to say that you became the Doom Slayer, because that's what the nerds want. Really sucks since newbies won't realize they're blatantly being fed fanboy misinformation.
The only small saving grace are some rebuttals to the Doom 64/Doom 2016 connection claims in the video's comments section. It's nice to see that some fans are still paying attention and aren't just giving into theory-crafting.
I really hate how the Brutal mods are trying so hard to just replace classic Doom and its history. I never recommend Brutal to anyone who's interested in Doom.
And yes, the Final Doom episodes were originally intended to be free fanmade levels, and people did get mad when they suddenly became products you had to pay for. Still, Id bought them and put the official Doom name on them, and they still sell them to this day, so it still seems like part of the series, even if the other games never acknowledge them.
Also, thanks to the fan backlash regarding Final Doom, TeamTNT soon thereafter created Icarus: Alien Vanguard, almost as an apology, and it's one of my all-time favorite Doom map packs.
