Ik this journal is table-flipping old, but i have an old tactic when i USED to paint bg. Start off with painting the whole canvas whatever color you want the sky to be. Then start with small details like clouds, or the sun, or the shading of the sky (stuff like mountains are like a secondary background detail.). Next, the land features bc that take a whole ton of time to get into detail, color and shading. And, i guess that sums it up! (Disclaimer: if you knew this already then im domb ;w;).
