‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾☽༓・*˚⁺‧ So I've been working a lot lately which is fine. Money is awesome and all.
TL;DR at bottom
But Saturday night came around, I was headed home and got detoured from my normal route because there was a concert at the stadiums in my area.
I normally would get off 435 N and route to stadium dr and take that the back way to my home. But I was forced to take a right and follow up again towards Stadium Dr to do a roundabout way to try and reach 40 hwy to head home instead because of all the concert traffic.
Well.. as I was approaching the left turn lanes to head to 435 S from Stadium Dr, traffic was incredibly heavy and everyone was trying to make a mad dash to turn left to get onto the highway.
In that "intersection" there are no stop signs, no yields (unless you're taking a right to 435 S hwy) and there's no traffic lights. There's 2 left lanes that HAVE to yield to oncoming traffic but at that moment apparently everyone thought differently.
As I'm approaching that junction of traffic, I let off my accelerator, to see if people would stop turning left but one guy on a bike didn't and he hit me as I was going through.
If I had not been going 30 mph at that point and slammed my brakes on, he probably wouldn't of gotten up. He deployed my air bag, I slammed my right arm into it, his bike smashed into the front of my car and he rolled onto my windshield which caused it to cave in and glass go everywhere.
Thankfully he got up and by the time the emt and fire trucks arrived he denied a ride to the hospital, citing only a bleeding scratch on his arm. Unfortunately he was a complete ass to me saying it was my fault. At this point I sit in my car, my right arm hurts like hell and I do take an ambulance to the hospital. (again, thankfully, nothing was deemed broken as far as bones go).
My car is totalled at this point. He's been charged with a failure to yield to oncoming traffic and I'm just waiting on an insurance claims adjuster to get a hold of me.
My right hand/arm is still in a good amount of pain. The underside, by my pinky hurts and around the crook of my elbow does too. I'm not sure if I screwed up a ligament or something, but holding things is kind of hard, can't apply pressure to that area because it hurts and grabbing is also hard.
Plus the seatbelt dug into my chest so my ribs and chest hurt on the right side.
At this point, I'm hoping for medical, my back wages on a missed day of work and a new car. I'd like to get my hand looked at to make sure nothing tore. And obviously I need a car. ;w; my poor Prius. Was a damn good car to me.
TL;DR: Got into a car wreck Saturday night. My car is totalled. Everyone is alive. My right hand is kinda fucked up atm.
Pics of the car my husband got that night before the city towed it and some google map pics of the area I crashed in. (Mind you. 2 of those pics are from 2015 and 1 from 2017.. that area is finished with construction. It's layout is still very close to what it is now.

And it’s also good that the guy got charged in spite of his attitude.
Have you gotten any witnesses to the crash? That might help too.
They LOVE LOVE LOVE cases where the police cited the person at fault because it is an instant win for you and will pay much more than the depreciated value insurance will give you for your car and injuries.
Insurance is going to do all they can to underpay or not pay you.
And whatever you do, DO NOT talk to the other guys insurance company without a lawyer.
I recently had some idiot total my newest car and of course he "had or didn't have" janky insurance (fly by night, doesn't answer calls, only has one location), but because I didn't go to the hospital, no lawyer wanted to take the case even when the police wrote the other guy up for failure to maintain lane. It took 4 months just to get the uninsured motorist coverage for half of what my car was worth from my own insurance, and now I'm taking the guy and the insurance, he does or doesnt have, to small claims for the rest.
It is an absolute nightmare without a lawyer.
Once you get one they should do everything from get you a rental car to getting you a new car of equal or greater value and whatever "pain and suffering" expenses as well.
