On commissions and making ends meet

やぁぁぁってやるぜ!
Okay, so, this is kind of a come-to-Jesus moment for me or something, but.
Basically, for about the past... 8, 9 years? I've charged the same amount for my art. That's both what I felt my art was worth and how much I thought people would be willing to pay.
It was also what I was charging at a time when I was merely treating art as a diversion. To some degree, I still have been treating it that way, but I'm at a point where I would like to make it less of a hobby that gives me pocket change on occasion and more of a part- or full-time job.
I'm not going to make any immediate changes, and it also doesn't apply to anyone who has already come to me asking for a commission ... But eventually, I am probably going to have to consider raising prices.
What I'd like to know is what YOU think my art should be worth on average by looking at it -- it's something I haven't given thought to heavily.

I don't really like the idea of raising my prices, whether it's because I don't think I'm good enough, or because I feel like I'd be alienating people, or whatever. So for me to have to say" I'm going to have to do this if I want to do art as an actual job," is uncomfortable
