Oddly specific types of fanfics I remember
6 years ago
One thing to remember, out of all the things in life
I dunno why, but sometimes I end up thinking back to the fanfics I used to read when I was still in my teens, which was like 2-4 years ago. At the time, there were specific kinds of fanfics I keep remembering about, ones I read a lot and tried to find more of. I'll list them off
1. Legendary Champion
Okay so, the basis for this genre of fanfic is that this human dude, who either lives a boring or shit life, saves a legendary disguised as a female human (for whatever reason) from some thugs or some crap, then later on, the human either gets killed or commits suicide, mainly the latter, but the legendary girl saved him and because he saved her life, he becomes worthy of becoming her guardian. But the thing is that every legendary and champion is female and most of them are malephobic and now the human has to deal with them... and by deal with them, I mean make a harem and kick the asses of the evil team doing while showing the champions and legendaries what a great skilled guy he is.
I dunno why but this is probably one of the more odd ones because I was heavy into harem fics at the time, yes, I admit that, but I dont know what attracted me to them, maybe the consept, maybe the harem stuff, maybe pokemon, maybe something else, I dunno. Most of them felt so similar except for this one specific one where the main dude was a hydregion and not all legendaries were female with some interesting stuff here and there... but most of them ended up being either main guy gets harem while being the Arceus champion or the evil/dark brooding feel sad for me champion.
2. House of Eeveelutions
This one is kinda simple. Pokemon Anthros exist and all that, the whole world is that. The protagonist, either a Lucario or Zoroark, has to go to college/high school far from his home town and has to be the butler of a house full of eeveelution girls because his dad and their dad were friends and their dad has to go for a business trip. So now theres the smart butler guy who needs to take care of these eeveelution girls's antics, and they all have generic as fuck names as you can expect.
Now I dont know why this one appealed to me a lot, mainly because I was a horny boy who thought living in a house full of girls would be nice and all. It's odd really, all of them felt so similar with how they went about, dad sends his boy to a house full of girls to be their butler while going to school with them, alongside the wacky idiot best friend who is also rich and has some kind of connection with MC.
3. Human In Equestria Adventures
This is one of the things I remember the most clearly. A human who lives a shitty life gets into some scuffle with random thugs or bullies, almost dies but gets transported to Equestria and into the evergreen forest, is found by the Main six (take a guess) and taken to the hospital, becomes friends, MC lives in Twilight's or Applejack's home, is given cloths for free, works for AJ, meets with the princesses, be super nice to Luna, MC is revealed to be (insert special thing here) gain a harem, go on some kind of adventure to defeat the evil.
This is the kind of stuff I end up admittedly liking, the whole Transported To Another World story can be fun to play around with and can lead to interesting plots and stuff, but almost all of them feel and do the same thing, which is why they all kinda blend together since they all bring in some anime power or some random convoluted stuff that's never explained, getting with Twilight first, etc.
4. Pokemon Harem Adventures
Again, self explanatory, guy goes on adventures with his entourage of anthro pokegirls and they do... whatever it is since it's in relation to what region they are in and all
This one, I dont know, it's so simple but always interesting because you get to read these stories with different people and... wait, the MCs boil down to "help the poke girls" and all that, wow I was easily pleased with reading some of this stuff.
5. Pokemon Highschool
This one is the one I remember the fondest since it's the most diverse mini category with only few similarities, especially since they end up tackling different kinds of things like bullies, day to day lives, relationships, family bonds, etc. Its odd honestly, I read this one the most out of all of them when I was younger for some reason, maybe it was because it was an escape of some kind, loved pokemon, wished I had a better time in school, etc, so I guess that's why.
Really, fanfictions then are definitely different from fanfics from now since we no longer have the "edgy" man characters and all that, all a product of the time I guess.
I think that's it really, just something I had in mind to type out, I am unable to sleep and i wanna, please brain.
Goodnight to whoever is reading this... merry 1 month late christmas and new years or something. Bye
