I can't say anything for certain, I just know that they seem to have a sort of console-wars mentality, such as exclusivity, on a platform that's pretty much been about having choices whatever your system is. It also just feels to me like they had one golden egg in the form of Fortnite and so now they think that they're on top and are trying to compete against Steam, Humble Bundle, Discord, GOG and the like while lacking some of the basic services they all have.

Simply, I've not heard much good about the Epic Games store other than free Subnautica and Metro Exodus, which was slated for Steam until 2 weeks before release, but I have heard a lot of bad. It seems like it's just going to fragment the PC gaming community more which is not needed. If others want to get the Epic Games store and get the free Slime Rancher, that's fine and maybe it will encourage the makers of Slime Rancher to improve and make something new later on, but I personally don't want to support Epic Games and what they're trying to do.
