Good news is, due to the renovations, a lot of the priceless objects had been removed ahead of time, and aside from the roof and spire, the walls are still intact last I heard.

I just hope it really was a accident or something and not worst case scenario. and not something stupid like left a pot of water or tea on a burner sense I think its also the arch bishops house isn't it?

No idea. I just heard that, despite so much destruction, a lot of the priceless parts of Notre Dame were already safely removed due to the renovations, and although one section of stained glass was destroyed, most of it survived and can be restored.

the statues on the arrow which has fell have been remove few days ago, indeed. and artefacts insides the church have been saved. The firemen have been able to protect the north part of the church (the front part with the two towers )
but the wooden support beams, called "the forest" which was made with century-old oaks and which was more than 800 years old, as well as the arrow, are lost forever.

Maybe this means they can rebuild the supports more effectively or something.

we hope so. the investigations are in progress. i assume we'll know at some point.

well, more than that, Notre dame of Paris is the monument the most visited in Europe and a buidling rich of symbolism for the France, in a historical and religious way. even in the history in the world.
