Soooooooooooo the Game of Thrones finale happened.
...Eh. :/
I mean, I didn't hate it. Thought it was okay. I definitely feel like the first third of the episode was great; I kinda liked Tyrion a bit more after seeing the beginning of it. Thought the choreography was done excellently. Thought uh...thought it was well-shot and everything.
They burned the throne down and melted it. That was one of the best things about this episode. The fucking throne is fucking gone.
Dany dies. Because of course. Of course they killed Dany after I genuinely started to like her since Season 4. I mean I knew it was gonna happen, but still.
Bran is the new King. ...Whoo? :/
Sansa is the Queen of Winterfell. ...Whoo? :/
Jon Snow being forced to go back to the Night's Watch kinda makes sense, but at the same time...kinda irritated the shit out of me. The same way it did with Jaime. Felt like their character arc was just a circle, where nothing got resolved. Nothing changed. But I guess given the circumstances, it makes sense...I guess. Eh.
Uh, Tyrion doesn't die. Some other characters don't die.
JON PETTED HIS FUCKING WOLF. FUCK YES. HE PETTED HIS GODDAMN DOGGY. :D
So yeah...that's my review? I guess?
I mean, I kind of don't really care all that much.
I don't hate it.
Don't love it.
Just kinda...eh? :/
Just eh...eh.
Eh.
It's been a journey, that's for sure. It has definitely been a long-ass ride. And it was overall enjoyable, even if the ride has been very bumpy along the way and kinda "blah" by the end.
Well, we have memes. That's all that matters now.

FA+

But no. >:(
Many missed opportunities. Many. >:(
I mean hell not even about that, those beasts eat SO MUCH they make problems out of it! IT HAS TO GO SOMEWHERE!
Bran seemed to be a pick that came out of nowhere.. Once Sansa declared the North's independence, Bran should have been unable to be King as he's not from one of the six kingdoms anymore. Then consider that as the three-eyed raven, he's not Bran Stark anymore...
Bran Stark, King of the six kingdoms, is neither Bran, a Stark, nor from one of the six kingdoms...
I won't say that it was a great episode, but they tied everything up as well as they could, without going into another war.
For the first time in a long time, I found all of the characters to be true to their personalities, under the circumstances.
There is always a solemn, almost numbness to the way people behave after any type of major event, whether it's a natural disaster, or man-made war, and I liked the way they handled that. With everyone not quite sure how they should act or react, while at the same time trying to restore some sense of normalcy.
When they brought Tyrion out and they panned across everyone sitting there, as soon as I saw Bran, it just sort of hit and I said to myself, "Bran is going to become the king". I have no idea why, but knowing that John would not take the position, seeing him sitting there, it just seemed to make sense.
Again, I'd say this ending was satisfying. Nothing I'd look back upon as an amazing finale, but it wrapped things up without leaving a thousand unanswered questions. I can go on without feeling the need for more Game of Thrones.
But it kinda does, I guess? :/
I do still disagree with Bran becoming King, considering that he said previously that he's "something else" and that he doesn't want anything in life. But when everyone says he should be king, he's all like "Why do you think I'm here?" And it's like, did he plan all of this? Did he know Dany was gonna go all crazy and burn King's Landing? Did he know Jon would kill her? Did he know the Lannisters (minus Tyrion) would die? Did he know he would survive the Battle of Winterfell? Did he know--
*headdesk*
I mean I agree with you to some extent. I guess after all the crap that happened in the previous few episodes, this was the only solution they could come up with. I'm just not a fan of how it was executed.
"I can go on without feeling the need for more Game of Thrones."
This I fully agree with.
Because that's all we have to go with. We can't have an ending that doesn't reflect the story we were given.
So, I go with 'satisfying' because any other ending would really have to have the previous episodes be something they were not.
Especially with how shitty the other 5 season 8 episodes had been, this was about the best we could hope for, for the finale.
Of course their own surprise was probably because the writers didn't know enough of what they were doing to actually write a more comprehensive final season. ;)
What has me laughing even more right now, is I just found out there there are actual Grief Counselors for Game of Thrones fans, for people who need help coping with the end of TV show.
