Selling Out or Cashing In?
As a man much wiser than myself once said: "If you're good at something, never do it for free." And so, with this ageless nugget of wisdom in mind, I'll be joining my fellow literary hacks in the time-honored tradition of abandoning any notions of artistic vision or integrity and selling the fuck out XD.
I'll be doing this two ways: through a little something I've labeled Pay-Per-Read, and also with a good old fashioned Patreon account.
PAY-PER-READ
Just like the name suggests, Pay-Per-Read stories will be for paying customers only. In short, these stories will include a free intro (about the first thousand words, give or take) and then readers will have to pay to unlock the Full Story. All transactions will be managed through my personal Shopify store. Don't worry: prices won't be too high, and I'll do my best to make the checkout as painless as possible.
Here's a sample of what these stories will look like:

While I encourage to you to click the link provided, to get a sense for how this will work, please don't actually try to purchase Full Story. It won't work; for now my Shopify account is still set to "test." Once you've made a real purchase, however, a PDF of the Full Story being offered will immediately become available for download.
PATREON
Not into buying individual stories? That's cool, you can become one of my Patrons instead https://www.patreon.com/theycallmejub ! For $5/months, Patrons will have access to ALL Pay-Per-Read stories as they become available. You also get the usual Patreon bells and whistles - suggestions, requests, polls - but that's pretty much it. No tiers, no special offers or anything like that. Personally, I like simple things, so I decided to keep my Patreon simple.
Just to be clear: if you become one of my Patrons, you never have to use Pay-Per-Read. All Pay-Per-Read stories will automatically be posted on my Patreon. Pay-Per-Read and Patreon are meant to be alternatives to each other. Pay-Per-Read offers less commitment, Patreon a better value for your money. The only exceptions will be Pay-Per-Read stories that are too explicit/hardcore for Patreon's guidelines, but there won't be many of those.
And before you ask, yes, I will still post some stuff for free - if only to help grow my readership further. But free content will be very limited from here on out. I'll also resume taking commissions (more on that in a coming journal), but I'll be very picky from now on. So if I turn down your commission request in the future, please don't take it personally.
I'm also planning to keep prices relatively low. My goal here isn't to make money, per say, but to create a monetary incentive that I can use as motivation for writing. There are SO many stories I still wanna tell, so many directions I wanna take my writing, but lately I can never seem to get started. So hopefully monetizing will give me the push I need to keep creating.
Alright, that's it for now. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. And in the meantime, I look forward to making a bunch of stuff for you pervs to get off to ;).
As always, thanks for reading ^^

I don't understand why this change has to make you more picky with commissions.
