uh oh!! And yeah, I got it and took a look. It's pretty basic but I'll ask around in the community to see if there's something I'm missing. It's probably just a personal thing that I worry about using a lot of premade patterns and stuff but that might just be how it is!
yeah I love CSP on my laptop and did download it for iPad too, my concern is that its subscription based on the ipad instead of just a lifetime single purchase on my laptop I vary between CSP and Krita
I have both CSP and procreate on my ipad... i find i use CSP more for serious work, procreate is more for like if i want to jot a sketch down quickly. In procreate you can just open it up and make a new file in a second.
As you’ve probably seen, the CSP interface is pretty much the same as it is on the desktop, which is alright but procreate is more optimized for a tablet so it feels much faster to use. However i find that procreate lacks features such as anti-overflow, paint bucket, text, shapes, etc. A lot of the functions that i rely on for my standard commissions are not in procreate. Procreate is more of a program for if you are a hands-on artist who likes to directly draw everything and not use too many digital shortcuts to make their art.
I would highly recommend it though, just because of how easy it is to open and immediately start drawing. And of course you can make really good fully finished pics on it, it’s just that personally my drawing process uses a lot of functions that are not available in procreate. I would say its a must have for any ipad owner
awesome! I did buy it ultimately, I'm just kind of struggling with it and how much more simplified it is as far as the interface goes. It does have a fill tool (if you drag the color in the corner it will fill where you drop it) but i dont know any other controls for it. The shapes thing is pretty big for my commissions, so unless I want to improve my straight lines it doesn't seem useful on that front. It also doesn't have a stabilizer! It has streamline and smoothing though, which hopefully should do something. I am really attached to CSP.
I think the worst thing is that I can't mirror the screen with my computer--it's not a mac or apple related--so I can no longer use Krita and if I ended up not wanting to do a subscription with CSP I can't just use the one I bought for my computer whilst seeing the best quality with my iPad.
yeah, not being able to screen mirror kind of sucks. tbh i still use my PC for all my serious work, the ipad is more for sketching on the go.
procreate definitely has a lot of limitations, i feel it's more designed w/digital painting in mind. i really do wish it had a real stabilizer but oh well... it's kind of training me to be more steady with my hand haha.
Yeah, me too tbh but also not having a color history makes it a Lot harder. And the issue with my PC is the screen color is slightly off and definitely not as good as my iPad. It’s an old laptop lol
I haven't really done much as an artist with any of my tools yet, but I already love Procreate ever since I bought it for my iPad 6. After my Paperlike (screen protector that feels like paper) comes in, I'll probably start grinding on doodles and finally getting into a decent output on DA/FA.
Also, Nanexis is gonna come for you now >:3
