I was initially worried they would mess it up all things considered but like you I was very pleased with what I found. I binged the whole thing and then rewatched the original movie as well. It is really really well done.

One of the most interesting things I have seen is the introduction of the "Hunter". That part really explains why the Skeksis were so feared and capable and shows what they may be capable of. I also like the reveal of the collective sentience of the Spiders later on as that added a new dynamic which was not known before.

I think the cave dwelling Gelflings are a fun lot and Deet is really adorable.

Right the Hunter yes!! I loved the contrast they used to portray the Hunter to the Chamberlain, still both obsessive in their own ways, but with such different strengths.

We have not gotten to the spiders yet.

Deet is quite innocent and naive but in the best ways! Adorable describes her well.

I'm hoping to binge-watch the crap out of it this week. Would have been doing so much sooner if I didn't constantly have new things come up that made me stall. I have loved the movie since I first watched it and have been highly anticipating watching what has been in production for years in hopes that it will still be as gratifying. I have to ask now since you've already seen it, how is the music?

Oh the music! Hmm... I'm having a hard time recalling if it is reminiscent of the original movie right now. However it parallels the story, and strengthens key moments. A few times I've even gotten goosebumps, a rare occurrence for me in shows. Very worth binge-watching!

I really can't put a pin on such since they all had a certain charm and individuality that makes them admirable. Although I can pretty sure say that everyone must agree that The Hunter was wicked AF. And Chamberlain, seriously way more clever and demented than ever. He just comes off as being just as dangerously cunning as The Hunter, only not as cool.

All-in-alll, I would have to say that this series comes off as being a fusion of the first 3 Muppet movies (The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, Muppets Take Manhattan), Labyrinth and the Original Dark Crystal.

More devious and slimy; that's how the Chamberlain came across to me. Less honorable, but in all the best ways! The Hunter was AWESOME!!! But yes, you make a great connection there between the danger of both the Hunter and the Chamberlain presenting in vastly different manners! I love the parallel; so close to the parallel with the mystics!!! (oh god I'm getting giddy; my gf and I are scheduled to FINALLY finish the last three episodes this weekend).

I feel inexperienced as I have seen none of those except the original Dark Crystal hahaa! Puppets scared me as a kid

It's a good thing you mentioned what episode you're on, because I was REALLY restricting what I wanted to say since I have finished watching it. I'd hate to spoil a single moment. Once you and your GF get to finishing it up, you should watch them in the order I mentioned......well, maybe Labyrinth before the MMs. You'll quickly understand and get David Bowie Stuck in your head with "Dance Magic Dance".

No worries! Yes we finished off the series (OMG YES) but no, I haven't had an opportunity to watch labyrinth yet! Overall how did you fins the Dark Crystal series?

I'm hoping that they continue to keep it going. Very entertaining and brings a lot of thought about how things may progress and how it fits into the movie seamlessly. Also, it does remind me of that short-lived show that Brian Henson was hosting, in which the first creatures the participants made on the show were in fact Skesis. Due to me working at night, I never got to see anymore of the series before it was canceled.
