Announcing some big changes going forward regarding my commission process!
The last few years have been completely miserable for me, and it's 100% because I can't focus on living my life whenever I have an outstanding commission. I spend an AVERAGE of 25 hours on a commission, some of which I charge as little as $50 for. I have been getting hold of things lately. I am finally making progress on my queue. I am really pleased with the last two, and VERY pleased with the one I am going to post sometime this week, which I have spent three weeks on at this point.
Thing is, I really like doing commissions. I genuinely appreciate the respect I am given with my artist's choice pieces, and the patience my commissioners have had with me. But my average turn around is getting to be in excess of six months and that is not only unacceptable to my commissioners, many of whom I consider friends, but to myself because of what it is doing to my stress levels. For chrissake, I have chest pains almost every day now.
To that end, going forward, I will be taking only very small batches of commissions from now on. I still intend to do take home commissions from conventions, but ONLY when I am completely empty, and to that end I will only be taking 2-3 commissions at a time. I will be announcing those first via Patreon, which will be a new reward for all members going forward, as well as to existing commissioners via my Discord, and then after a week publicly on FA/Twitter.
A second change is, I will be updating my pricing scheme to reflect the time that I am putting into these pieces. I will no longer have a color sketch option except via request from prior commissioners. Sketches aren't my thing. Prices for remaining options will increase, frankly, dramatically.
Everyone who has let me know they are waiting on me to open up, I appreciate you and I hope you will understand why I am making this decision. Everyone else, I deeply appreciate your patronage, your support, and I hope to continue to make art you love going forward.
