Sedatives from the vet have helped my dog in the past. I don’t remember them being terribly expensive.

Nah! My dog wasn’t out cold, he was conscious, just chill af.

What my family does before he go on a long trip is take our dog out for a long run that way he sleeps most of the way there

I don't know if you guys have this in the states, but Adaptil have helped alot on my rescue who was terrified of everything. It's basically just pheromones that the mother would give out naturally.

At least here it exists in a little electrical dispenser, a spray and a collar so the scent stays with the dog!

I only worked at a pet shop for a little over a year and from what I know, it varies from pet to pet. Vests only work so well, sometimes taking them on car trips here and there to get them used to the idea of driving in the car. Like you mentioned calming treats are a good idea as well as calming spray, but I wouldn't recommend that for a small space like a car, since it may have an effect on you guys as well.

Idk if theres a way to have it delivered to you, but the other brand is just as good.

I've heard of some people using children's benadryl as well, but I'm not sure on how much you'd give to a chihuahua

My friends just have one of the harnesses that attaches to the seatbelt clip; it makes it so the dog cant move too much. As well as they bring it in the car as often as possible to get it accustomed to it.

Honestly, for my cats, I just keep them in their carriers, they eventually calm down.

Just go on short rides with him up until you go, a lot of chiuauas, or however the fuck you spell it, like to hang out on laps in cars. If you are going to Florida make sure to goto the Seminole hard rock.

This is what we've always used as a family to calm the dog during storms, since he had an insane reaction from loud noises. We now use it for our newer dog when he has allergy / itching issues. 1 Pill for our 30 pound dog.
