Finfic tropes I hate.
Once soon a time I frequented Fanfiction.net and currently a visit My Little Pony Friendship Fanfiction. In both cases I've come across fanfic tropes I hate. So In figured I'm mention some, somewhere, so why not here?
1. Cross overs with too many franchises. Crossing over two different franchises is a fun idea and leads to great interactions. Crossing over 3 franchises? 5 franchises? More than 10? Now thats just asking for a bad story. I'm not talking about shared universes either, I mean franchises with their own district realities and rule sets. Everything clashes with everything else, the many characters can't get time needed to make a contribution.
2. Adding characters from other franchises with no reason or explination. Bad because well your shoehorning a character from a unrelated work in for no good reason.
3 "Displaced" stories, because well they are all the same. Self Insert/Author Avataur goes to a convention dressed as superhero of anime character then magicly pulled into an unrelated world where they gain the appearance and powers of that character. Also because the writers usually present these as cross overs but no it's the author putting themself in the story but "cooler" meaning it's just a standard power trip self Insert fic with cosplay wrapping.
4 Characters used as costumes. The writer is bad at descriptions, rather than improve they make it a fanfic. The appearances of known characters are "worn" like costumes by the author's OCs. Different names, different personalities, it's not fanfic it's lazy writing.
5. Dialogue only stories.. It's the characters talking, and talking. They don't do things, it's just characters standing around talking in a non-descript location. No one does anything they just talk about it. Dullllll!
6 Script Style stories. It's a TV script, shows the name of the speaker in brackets or before a colon before they speak. Only actions describled.
There are of course more terrible tropes, but.these 6 annoy me enough I wanted to vent.

This is more like early writers learning how to write, and they are simply writing for themselves more often than not, which many writers do, I do myself, but one has to start somewhere.

Yea but a lot never grow past it, or worse write a terrible Twilight fan fic rename it 50 Shades or Grey and somehow it gets published and becomes a series of movies!
