RIP Brad

20-some years ago, Brad McQuaid was a game director for a little company that produced a little MMORPG called EverQuest. He went on to have a hand in creating Vanguard, and the not-yet-released Pantheon.
Not everyone agreed with his "vision" but EQ is still going to this day, I still play it, and never really had anything bad to say about the man's decisions.
He apparently passed away today. The online worlds just got a little smaller.
RIP.

EQ just never could compete with WoW being so gigantic back then but it was always a nice game. I especially liked the Champions of Norrath series on the PS2. Sure it was a lot like the Baldurs Gate series there which didn't follow actual D&D but it was still a lot of fun.

EQ was a life changing event in both positive and negative ways for me of course. Maybe getting pulled down the endless MMORPG rabbit hole was a negative, But the people I met were such a positive. At the peak of my play it was a great community that built around that game. the Fan Faires were always fun for me and my actual first true vacations solo outside my home region.
