I had been really busy out for work lately, where I can't bring my laptop with me, so I will use my smartphone a lot.

But they has these super tiny icons and texts in my phone's viewer, making is super difficult to use.... >.<

As a person who constantly checks FA just to see art... I completely understand what you're talking about. And let me say I hate that Your_reminder account XD Looks like made in purpose or worst that every time I come here to check my morning submissions I have their damn reminders all over the homepage 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yeah, I gave up on the main page years ago. Now, on the rare occasions I do anything, I poke around my folllowers / followed galleries to see if there's anything interesting.

For me, when my submission feed reaches 30-40% advertisements or if I keep seeing *the*same*reminder*every*few*hours*, it will trigger me. I'll then go through looking at the offenders, looking for some reason to keep watching them. More often than not if all they've done in the last 6 months is try to sell and remind stuff that doesn't interest me, I'll drop them.

The front page I don't really care. It's a handful of submissions that might catch my eye and find a new artist.

But overall some sort of flag for a submission as Art, Adoptable, Patreon Moneygrab, YCH, or Reminder would be nice -- with filter options to match.

But the problem is most of the new user, or the old ones who simply don't want to do such investgation, or don't have time to do so. They got flooded by ads, they got annoyed, and they walk away.

Eventually the site becomes a ghost town, nobody actually cares about anyting here.

I've been complaining about this for years; nothing's changed, and I doubt anything will change, FA just enjoys the status quo so much.
Programatically speaking, 'fixing' this issue would be laughably easy. I've made something like Inkbunny has on my WAMP stack setup in an afternoon with MySQL and PHP: basically allow people to decide if they want to see someone's submissions, journals, or 'advertisements', and then basically force all YCH, Commission, Patreon, Streaming, etc spam to be posted under that category and simply allow people to choose not to see it, same with journals <- in this case I watch 99% of the people I do for art... I don't really have interest in their lives or personal affairs, while there are some closer friends who I do care about, but now their sincere journals are lost in the sea of 'Commissions open', etc...

a simple "ad" category might work, IDK. they can leave the rest of it to the trust system. anything is better than what we have ATM

I feel the same about this. Over the months I've seen a big growth on these type of submissions.
Everytime I check the front page, half of it -at the least- is basically this type of content. It carries over to submission feed and journals.
As a small artist, everything I upload gets quickly buried under these; as a watcher, I prefer to use other websites.
This is the main reason I started to focus on other places... :\

There's one artist that I'm watching, that does some art that I really like. But lately they've been posting not only 1, but 3 different YCH reminders, once or twice a day. At least they remove the old ones the moment they post a new one, but it just makes sure that it's always nearly at the top of my list. It's really annoying and I considered telling them about it, but I was afraid to seem like I was the "bad guy", and that this was just normal. I'm glad I'm not the only one to think that. 1 reminder 24 hours before the deadline is perfectly acceptable. Two reminders for the same YCH per day is just spamming.

I may be too harsh on this, but, think about it, there are so many artists on FA, if everyone post YCH and another reminder, it won't just be 2 posts, it will become millions of posts that flood the page endlessness.

Thats cause Dragoneer and his team of crack web developers refuse to actually improve the site and such. There are rules against submitting these reminders but artists can bypass the rules if popular enough, and can use technicalities to the rules too.

I used to have a tool that auto removed all submissions with specific names in them, and whitelisted others. For example, all YCH would be blacklisted, but whitelisted if it was "result" "complete" or any such phrase.

I once asked an artist to title her YCHs with YCH and she went on a bitch fest all over twitter about me telling everyone how entitled I am and how horrible a person I am, getting her many many many fans to block me and mock me, some for years on in. Some still.

I wish the script still worked so that I could auto remove bullshit from FA like patreon and ych submissions, but nope, no one's fixed it.

Yea well, thats how they evade detection by the users. Admins only respond if there is a report and you can't report someone if you can't prove they did a deletion and repost. I think the rule is 24 hours before you can repost which is a stupid rule.

I can agree wit some people here though, its ruined FA. I don't like coming here anymore, kind of a shitty website. Especially now since artist beware is against the rules and you can't protect people against scams anymore or warn people about the pedophiles in the fandom or whatnot. I can understand why such a rule exists, but in the end it hurts more than it saves.

In the case of image spam, it has ruined the submissions inbox, and the staff did an update once to add a "select streams" option, which is pointless and stupid.

Maybe someone can try and fix that script that used to let people choose what to hide and auto delete from their inboxes. Who knows.

I'd say thats a good thing, this place is a dump. It'll never be improved. I personally like the design of Furry Network a fair bit, also Weasyl was really well designed. The problem with FA is that, everyone's already here so everyone already stays. Artists have left before and then come back because none of the watchers followed them. The only time people left, was during the down times and when the site database was leaked. That was a good one, hilariously bad for the site. Everyone's passwords and everything. Even every reason for every ban, every report through the ticket system, notes, everything. Good lord that pissed off a lot of people. It gave those sites a chance to prove themselves for once, but then everyone flocked back here.

Some people still use a tool to multipost across sites though which is good.

I'll talk to some friends, see if I can get the script fixed, I know its not gonna help everyone, but its better than nothing at all. Perhaps if some popular people spread the script around FA like wildfire perhaps it'll gain some power and/or influence the site devs to finally do something.

Watch the commissioners, not the artists, and you'll end up with less mess. Otherwise you're stuck with 50-80% advertisement content.

FA is losing so much money on these free ads too. Why buy ad space on FA when you can just flood the front page every two hours with a new reminder or fifteen "coloring book" adoptables?

Honestly it really has gotten out of hand. Like at least 1/4 of my inbox subs are one of these promo submissions. I mean it's kinda cheating also in the sense that they are more or less posting ads without paying for advertising and left unchecked well.. we get what we have today with the site flooded with these promo submissions and the constant reminders of YCHs as well. There needs to be a balance... a middle ground that needs to be put in such as the whole having those posts in a separate category.

To me it's simply confusing how they are otherwise rather nitpicky when it comes to the AUP but this flood of free advertising goes more or less uncontrolled. I'm like a year behind on my submissions inbox trying to go through stuff to fav/download in part because of this nonsense. Gets incredibly boring even going through it cuz much of it is "reminders"

If they could at least open a new category to put those things inside and apart from normal submissions, things will be a lot better.

Yes, there will still be artists who won't follow the rules and place the wrong submissions in the worng place. But that won't last for too long, as long as there's still rules out there.

Precisely. That's the fair middle ground there. They should also get their own tab as well based on that category as to not clutter up and take away from viewing art that isn't just some ad-based piece. Even on code as old as FA's it's not hard to implement at all. Any second-rate web dev could do it no problem.

I feel it's alright to post a reminder once a day for a YCH to increase being seen, but like others, if an artist is spamming them multiple times a day, I'm quick to unwatch. It would be nice to see a marketplace type section like FLO.

This morning out of 30 submissions, I have 11 reminders, 3 YCH, which leaves only 17 actual art submissions. One user I follow because I like their art, seems to post 3 reminders at least twice daily, once for each YCH they have. Except for today where he posted one 2 hours ago and then the exact same thing 15 minutes ago. I personally am so sick and tired of seeing these reminders every single day. If you want to put out a reminder then do it via a journal so it doesn't fill my submissions inbox. And an artist shouldn't have to keep posting reminders every single day.

And he just posted another reminder for the same piece of art and deleted the one from two hours ago...

this is totally out of control.
everyone is just so persistenting trying to make money out of those YCHs.

And an update... I cleared my feed 4 hours ago and in 4 hours I now have 17 reminders out of 39 submissions and 3 of those are from the same user that keeps deleting and reposting reminders today, this being the third time today he has posted the exact same reminder...

I do not remember what FAs front page looks like, it has so little use.
I am dissapointed when I see artists make YCH reminders, but I am dissapointed when I see them make YCH offers to begin with. Not many make them artistically worthwhile either. I guess the only way I've been able to handle is like someone up here in the comments suggested, unwatch the ones who spam this crap and watch their commissioners instead.

But still, all these ads bug furries away, old and/or new users. It becomes quite boring when there's less and less friends playing around~

Something should be done about YCH spam. Some people post the same YCH reminders twice a day.
