Caribbean earthquakes / Terremotos caribeños

General
Seems there's an uptick of seismic activity in the northern side of the Caribbean Plate. Starting off the month of January, we faced earthquakes ranging in magnitudes from 5 to 6.4 (main shock, before dawn on January 7th) in southwestern Puerto Rico, we continue facing replicas / aftershocks but at least these have calmed down substantially.
However, things get truly ugly today with a magnitude 7.7 quake in the Cayman Trench, affecting the Cayman Islands, southern Cuba and northwestern Jamaica. So far there's been incidents of soil liquefaction, formation of sinkholes, and worries about a possible tsunami (seismic authorities have verified that it won't happen due to the type of fault movement). Here I'm sending a greeting in solidarity to my fellow people of the Caribbean region, we must always be ready for extreme natural events like these.
