Commissioning Terms of Service (Jul 2020)

やぁぁぁってやるぜ!
Hiya!
So, you have decided that you want to commission me! S'all good, I'm down!
For the sake of clarity and making things easier for the both of us, and for the sake of maintaining SOME air of professionalism here, I feel it might be necessary to create a formal list of terms and conditions for commissioning me.
1. Payment - Payment for commissions will be handled through PayPal, with an invoice either sent to your email address or via a link to their site. While tipping is enabled, it's not mandatory but nonetheless greatly appreciated. While I appreciate any offers of trading one good or service for another - such as offering to pay for art with a game code on Steam, GOG, the Epic Game Store, etc. - I will pretty much always have to turn this down, sorry!
2. Work Timing and Completion - Work on a commission will begin after I receive payment through PayPal, rather than before. I have been lenient with this in the past and had a policy of not taking payment until I've made a time investment; and while people have been good about paying after receiving a rough draft, I have had one or two instances where my enthusiasm to work on a project has bit me in the butt, with radio silence and/or no payment from the customer. It was easier to shrug it off because it had been a side hustle, but since I'm trying to convert this into a full-time job, I kind of have to put my foot down in this regard! Additionally, I generally try to keep a queue going at all times. As such, it may take a little time for the completed piece to be sent to you, but I work on multiple pieces at once and will always send out a draft of the commission as soon as possible.
3. When commissioning me, please be ready to pay at or around the time of sending the invoice. If you have to decline going through with it, I totally understand, but it is nonetheless a bit of a pain in the butt. If you need time to get the payment together, I can try and work with you on it - but realize that doing so kind of puts the commission on the backburner. Similarly, when I specifically solicit for commissions, while I totally get the want to post "Well, I'd commission you, but I don't have the money right now," I can't recommend doing so as I can't exactly keep track of those who want to do so at a later date. ^^;
4. References - I am willing to work with text-based references for characters; however, whenever possible, I'd also appreciate any visual refs you may have for a piece as well! Figure, outfit ideas, pose ideas, and such. The more you can flesh out the important bits of a picture, the better. It helps keep things from getting a bit too messy regarding my interpretation versus yours!
5. Edits and Revisions - I've haven't had to make a fuss about this, but, when I send out a rough draft of your commission, let me know whether or not things need to be changed then. Minor details - touching up bits here and there, adjusting the color of fur slightly, and so on - generally aren't too big a deal, but if you need me to make changes to the character's figure or pose, let me know ASAP before I go into the inking or coloring phase. I can do maybe 2 or 3 medium edits or 1 major edit to a picture in the draft phase; if things still aren't looking quite right, let me know and we can work something out in terms of compensation for any extra time needed on a picture.
6. Reproduction of art - In almost every case, any art I complete on commission is for personal use. As long as you give proper attribution to the work provided, you are free to post it on social media, art sites, etc.; and make personal prints as well - I make sure to include the original resolution file for this purpose. As the art's creator, unless asked otherwise, I also reserve the right to post commissioned works publicly on social media (Twitter, Tumblr, Pillowfort, etc.) and my art sites/portfolios. If you wish for it to be a private commission not to be posted online by either party, please inform me ahead of time. Additionally, if you intend to use my art for any business purposes - be it non-profit or for-profit - please let me know so that we can negotiate terms that are mutually beneficial.
7. Pricing - The prices in my commission sheet (refer here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43435762/ ) are for a single character with a solid color or gradient BG. This can... probably be chalked up to my lack of experience with fitting such info onto a sheet! In most cases, this pricing will work for what you ask for! But if you are wanting any extra details out of the ordinary (complex fur patterns, more complex backgrounds, etc.) let me know at the time of commissioning so we can work out a fair price for the piece. Additionally, if you want 3 or more characters in a piece, let me know so that we can negotiate either a fair price for the work required and/or a fair method of portioning out payments in installments, if needed.
8. Split commissions - I will take split commissions, but the previously mentioned payment policy still applies! More than with single-payment commissions, please make sure both payments are ready to go as close together as possible.
9. Comics - given the complexity of laying out a comic book page, I generally will not take these. Sequences meant to convey a story, however, are fine!
10. I reserve the right to decline service if I am uncomfortable with the content of a commission proposal. As I mentioned in the price sheet, if you're not sure if an idea is doable, just ask. This applies both to content as well as inking/coloring methods that may not be listed in my price sheet!
As always, thank you in advance for your business! 🙇♀️
