Commissioners Beware - HipsterTuxedoCat
TL;DR,
is scamming people, do not commission him.
Long version:
I've recently come in contact with HipsterTuxedoCat, who opened commissions a couple months ago. I commissioned him, even though he insisted on using Venmo, a USA only payment app, which as an European I couldn't use. I couldn't convince him otherwise but I was pathetically desperate for art so I commissioned him with a proxy, a friend of mine who uses paypal AND is in America helped me out by sending the money over.
Later, I haven't received updates for a good month, so I asked about it. I was given a very lukewarm response, to which I replied with empathy and gave him time. Later, he closed down his note system, so I started to stay cautious. I left him a shout with no response. I then commented on his journal, to which he removed my comment and banned me. I have no way of reaching him, and struggling with Venmo my proxy is going to contact their banks to file a chargeback.
All in all, I was scammed, and so was
keese30 who contacted me shortly after this. I reckon he is scamming the other people who took the slots as well, since I remember vaguely that I wasn't the only slot taker, and he haven't released a single piece of art since.
I also have proof.

After this I just waited for quite a while until he went radio silent
At this moment I am blocked from reaching him through notes, comments or anything. He is deceiving, lies, and an egoist, betting over 200 bucks openly on a YCH while owing people refunds. Do not commission him. Since FA doesn't give two fucks about scammers, at least do your parts and spread the word.
I'm not telling you to bully or harass him, but he needs to be exposed.
Thank you. Stay safe.

At the bare minimum Povers friend deserves a refund and apology. That artist can go fuck themselves with a rusty spoon for horse shit like this.
No... If they aren't doing the commission a refund is in order. That's how the world works. You pay for a service, and the service is done. If the service isn't done then you are entitled to a refund. That's it.
It doesn't matter who is being rude to who.
If you are an artist and you hate working with a particular client. Refund them and walk away. Just because a client is rude doesn't mean you get to keep the money.
It's not a favor. It's a business transaction
I wasn't impolite, I was concerned about why he was using a third party payment service over the vastly used Paypal instead. He took that as personal offense at first. I wasn't spamming. You can see my notes I poked him ONCE to ask about the commission. He replied, I was polite, then he shut off his notes.
He has my 40 bucks I have all the right to be upset.
Also I bet both my kidneys you ARE HTC and just made an alt. Otherwise you're a hypocrite and need to stop simping for a phony like him.
As far as the OP goes, I've heard other complaints about HipsterTuxedoCat, though I have never tried to commission him. I'm not giving any names so they are protected, but this Beware post definitely has merit.
(I checked in the first place to see if they had Poverizer in their watch list - that would explain the super fast response to the journal, but nope, they don't)
That's the one he used to send messages to me :3c
As someone who has been on the receiving end of this? This is not what you do. If you've done something to dissatisfy your customer and they want their money back, you give them the refund. End of story. Now, you don't have to be a prick about it (hypothetically speaking), but if you want a refund and the artist/writer/what-have-you has not supplied what you've demanded, you have every right to ask for one. What an artist should not do is outright ignore/block customers and keep their money. It doesn't matter what kind of shit you're going through. Either give back the money or supply what you're offering.
There have been multiple cases where I have openly stated I've been struggling with commissions, so I can see where he's coming from in terms of taking a while due to real life issues. But, again, if someone is asking for their money back...you give it back. If you can't comprehend that, stop doing commissions.
I was so nice and kind but play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
