When life gives you bad luck.

‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾☽༓・*˚⁺‧ Well, it's that time again for another update journal.
Still alive and kicking as of right now. Currently unemployed and have time again so expect to see some commissions popping out hopefully within the next few days.
For anyone curious about my demise, of life bending me over and throwing me into the dumpster without a reach around, please see below lol. TLDR@bottom.
-For those who care or didn't know, I was working at a furniture store as an Admin. I was basically sitting at a dead-end job for the last two years. I'd tried showing multiple times and even expressing I was interested in a leadership position and was constantly turned down for having anxiety. (No I was unable to get solid proof of them denying me for a promotion due to a mental illness).
So, que me looking for work elsewhere. I had run into a few listings back in March and then the quarantine happened and I didn't hear anything back but I had applied so I just waited.
Come beginning of July, I get a call from this recruiter from a company called Aerotek. They offer me a remote work from home position doing call center for the North Carolina Unemployment Division. Offered $2.50 above the pay that I was making and I jumped at it. I was barely making enough to cover bills let alone living expenses on my current wage so I took the leap.
This, in hindsight, was a bad idea.
The start date moves from the 13th to the 20th and I'm not notified until that previous Friday before the 13th that this was happening and I had already placed my two-week notice in. So I said, ok I'll wait.
20th rolls around, it's pouring its ass off outside and my umbrella is nowhere to be seen so I come into the building soaked, no mask (because I left it behind while panicking and screeching my way to the front doors of this large office building) and I start to check-in for my security badge. A lady pulls up with a laptop and states they were unable to get my high school diploma/GED credentials. I advise I have neither and put that on my information when applying. I was never told one was mandatory for the job. I advised the lady I had just quit my 2-year long job to be here and so she wanders off to speak to a manager. She comes back and tells me that I can continue working that day and that my recruiter will be in contact with me. Ok... so I go in and start training.
All of Monday goes by without a call or email from my recruiter. So after work, I shoot an email out to try and figure out wtf is going on with my employment. She gets back to me Tuesday, all pissed off because of a copy/paste I did in one of the many emails they sent me and she didn't ask if I had graduated or not and just assumed I had. So she advises me to keep working there until my background check comes back and the company I'm contracted through terminates me. You can imagine my anxiety/stress the whole freaking week because I'm in employment limbo at this point. It's great getting a paycheck but the company starts talking about taking the computers home come Friday and all that was racing through my head all week was, If I take home their equipment, and then find out I'm not qualified, I could really be screwed or held liable.
On Friday morning, I advise the company I'm contracted through what's going on. I'm getting nervous and I'd not heard anything from Aerotek. 2 hours later I receive a phone call from my recruiter about how she got an email from the CEO of the company and were requiring my termination (and apparently scalding Aerotek for not communicating this issue at the start of the week). So I grab my stuff and leave and filed unemployment that afternoon.
Oddly enough, I thought that was the last I'd hear of Aerotek. I got a call Wednesday this week advising there's another position that's work from home entirely that would pay quite a bit more, and doesn't require the diploma/GED. I'm now currently waiting to hear back about an interview for that.
I do want to point out that I am seeking employment from home more than anything at this point. I am considered high risk due to a cyst on my vocal cords that prevents ventilation if needed and my hormone therapy places me also in that category. I also can't do much physical work like I used to. With my bad back/knees and now a recovering broken ankle, I can't be standing 8+ hours a day or lifting over 40lbs for very long. I know, I'm practically useless at this point.
TLDR; Left 2 year job for another that paid more, got screwed over by hiring agency, now unemployed and waiting on interviews.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with such an incompetent, worthless company. If they fall through again on their promise of a good job, I really recommend searching for jobs on your own and avoiding Aerotek like a Vegas Strip hooker covered in purple sores. Best of luck to you in all this. I know the stress and anxiety can be crushing. If all else fails, try to get your old job back.
Hopefully this new job offer is the breakthrough you need.
