The details and fun facts of Robin Marx
1. In her 1st drawn appearance, she didn't have a name. She was simply referred to as the "Hi Striker Vixen"
2. She was originally created for humor as part of an Oekaki Board's "Bizarro Valentine" theme, but seemed to draw some good feedback and grew on me more
3. She was inspired by my actual career as a carny, which spanned from 2003-13, though I originally tried to have her show more carny stereotypes like missing teeth
4. While her primary and favorite color is canary yellow, she sometimes also wears sky blue, which is another color she enjoys. This is not as random as it appears. When I 1st worked on North American Midway in 2007, their shirts for jointees (game workers) was yellow, but they later changed that to sky blue shirts. I still like showing her in the yellow more than the sky blue.
5. While she's mostly a nomad, being a carny by trade, she resides in Gibsonton, FL when off the road. Gibsonton (or as carnies often call it, "Gibtown") is a suburb of Tampa that was founded by carnies
6. No, I don't have a fetish for eyepatches, LOL, but I figure it does much for her character and shows how she's been through a rough life, even if enjoying every bit of it. Just don't ask her to take it off and don't ask how she lost that eye. It's 1 of her very few highly sensitive subjects.
7. Her name is an age old carny pun that originated in the sideshows. To understand it, you just need to know that the carny term for patrons is "marks"
8. While not always seen smoking, when she does smoke, she smokes cigars. This is a nod to the history of the hi striker game she works for a living. From sometime in the 19th Century until the 1950s, hi striker games used to give out cigars to those who rang the bell. This is also how the term "Close, but no cigar" originated
