Updates from me and to my Patreon.
Hey guys! Been super busy lately. Lots of stuff has changed since last journal at the start of the year, so here's some current updates to things:
- Saved up and bought myself full-body tracking for VR (and been having a blast with it!)
- Released my first premade-avatar base pack with decent success
- Created multiple worlds from scratch in VRChat, both for hanging out and displaying my avatars
- Been invited to a few 'secret' projects that I never would have if I hadn't started 3d modelling
- Grown my Discord server community by a good handful!
- Made a.... lot of friends.
And such with my new busy schedule, I've had to make some hard decisions. This is an excerpt from my latest Patreon post:
At the start of next month, September, I'll be indefinitely removing my reward tiers. I've been suuuper busy creating 3d projects, like avatars for VRChat, worlds, other things, and I've really been enjoying working on them. Also in the last 3 months I've made more than triple in income from my 3d sales than I typically make from a entire year of my Patreon, for arguably less work, since I've been creating things for passive income. It's a lucrative market I've found, plus I'm building good skills and growing my community, so I want to try to focus more time into all this. And because of that I'll be removing my reward tiers for the foreseeable future.
They may come back in the far future, and in the meantime I will likely be doing things like occasional YCH auctions for when I want to draw, and of course personal art projects.
I will however still be keeping the lower tiers for my Patreon because I want to have a place to distribute my high-res pngs and keep my 2d art community, and whenever I do bring back the reward tiers I'll be letting existing patrons know first. Same with any YCH auctions I do - I'll be showing them off to patrons for first dibs!
So, tl;dr - I'm closing my patreon reward tiers to better focus on my 3d work, but I'll still be producing art and the occasional YCH when I want to. My Patreon will still be open to folks that want access to the files of any 2d artwork I make, first-dibs on YCH auctions, and access to my Discord server to see what I cook up behind the scenes.
Also whenever I do decide to reopen my reward tiers, current Patreons will also get first dibs on those slots!
I've never been so consistently motivated before as I have with my 3d work, and I really want to keep that forward momentum. It means I need to sacrifice something in the short term, but I know it's for the best.
I want to thank you all for your support, and I hope the rest of this crazy year treats you gently.
