Hard drive borked
The small flash drive on which I kept all of my FA-related materials backed up (as well as a substantial porn collection that took years to compile) appears to have spontaneously died. I might recover the data in a few years when I have the money for a forensic examination cleanroom. And yes, I did try every other option, including a repair/recovery location and buying my own software.
The porn collection isn't all that important. Honestly at this point I feel it's better to take the erotica game into my own hands. I had a few long-forgotten projects on there too, and a bit of other dumb bullshit. Luckily, the really important stuff is backed up online and via FA. The only issue is getting it all re-downloaded, but I'll probably be able to set up a network (or more accurately a cobwebwork, because these things go via so many damn websites and people) that has the locations of everything. I'm also going to start making sure to upload full-res images to FA. No need for modesty, even in resolution; this is porn we're talking about.
TL;DR: No real tragedy, just a jarring happening. Will be fixing shit.
Only non-frivolity I'm gonna really miss is the original unreasonably hi-res backup of my usual story thumbnail.

Update, I finished faster than I thought I would. I kinda forgot that google docs is a valid backup source and has all the recent/important things since (as far as I remember) when I was just starting out doing art trades. The submission collection was pretty quick. Onto the next task, just life as it would have been without this whole mess.

Yeah, I use OneDrive for storing my recent artwork and projects, so as to avoid those kinda issues. Then I have a jump drive for my old art and project files, though buying more space in One Drive may be a good idea for the future.
