Besides just not being into social media in general, I don't like the place or the types of people and behavior it has allowed to prosper. All the horror stories about cancel culture, false accusations for internet clout, all the entitled twats, sjws, sensitive little snowflakes that will send a hate mob after you if you say or post anything they disagree with. So much of this shit comes from twatter. I wouldn't dare put anything of mine up on that site because the odds of some asshole randomly coming across it and trying to "cancel" me are way higher than any of the other sites I frequent. As much shit as people give FA, I personally find it way more tolerable than any corner of twatter. So yeah, I avoid that place like the rotted cesspit that it is.

I like to keep my different aspects of online persona separate. I only want to post my art on art sites. I keep personal talk to discord, and RP stuff to RP sites.

Having political/emotional views burying porn really ruins the focus of everything. Plus the risk of the twitter gangs finding out and slandering knee-jerk reactions of you all over the site is a big risk.

No thanks...In a person to person interaction, it's reasonable, but just constantly going whenever someone feels like saying something, and then multiplying that by however many people you follow, no.

I literally only use it to post clips and screenshots from my nintendo switch and say nothing at all.

The little lurking I do see around is an actual hellhole.

I couldn't take the politics I want no part of, the constant arguing about said politics, Left fighting me, right fighting me, and in the end I was not getting any traction to any of my project.

The straw breaking the camel's back was this one dink's ultimate comment to win a argument about politics was, to judge me as a person based on my popularity. I never took twitter seriously so I only had 15 followers over seven years, but I was happy with that as I had other things going on with life both on and off the net. Only the person saw that was a pathetic "basement dwelling" loser way of life, as I had to devote all of my attention, energy and life to twitter 24/7.

It's become much more negative over time. I got it several years ago, and it was mostly people sharing artwork, videos, creative content. Now all I see are callout posts, political posts, and posts about anxiety, depression or suicide. I don't see anything positive any more, just a lot of people who are angry, sad and depressed, and either venting their depression or attacking anything they dislike.

I'm on Twitter, but I'd be lying if I wrote I haven't been thinking about leaving it. Although this goes without writing, as I'm sure everyone's well aware of this, the bulk of Twitter's user base consists of wholly unreasonable people. Arguing with them, is a waste of time; they don't want a conversation, they just want to get whatever nonsensical, biased thing they're thinking out of their systems.

That, and it's surprisingly easy for people to accuse you of things, just because of what you post, and have no qualms blocking you for the slightest disagreement or lapse in judgment. These reasons are why I'm still there, but I almost never tweet anything besides the latest artwork I've made.

I am on twitter, but i don't like it, its so flooded with people's content that i never really get to see everything. I also would have to make an alt as the one bound to this name is one that shouldn't be following, commenting, retweeting, liking or whatever of furry lewds. That stuff is kept personal and out of people's view. Its also why i never comment much on FA or do any favorites. I'd just like to keep things personal and not traced back to me.

Twitter has also become just a burning pile of trash with the amount of annoying people on there that will send hate your way whenever you disagree.

Well Political vitriol aside it's not a site that is good for Artists. It's not constructed in a way to support galleries and descriptions of the work well enough ... it's like rather than being an artwork show room with the artist showcasing their work and talking to the patrons ... it's more a pamphlet on the artist that is in a plastic cubby at the bus stop.

I remember the last exodus and so many artists abandoning FA to only use twatter, when like you said, it was never designed as an art site to begin with. The very few times I actually clicked to check out an artist on there, I had to scroll through so much useless bitsize posts, replies, and retwats just to find more of their work.

Every time I tried, Twitter went into full give-us-your-phone-number mode five minutes later, "for security". With a preticked checkbox option to also use it to match me against people IRL to find friends and stuff. I don't trust them to keep it private, free throwaway numbers are blocked and I'm not getting a spare prepaid number just for a social media account.

scrollfeeds are not art galleries. they are meant to share shitty memes and that's basically it. And with art twitter, half of those shitty memes are 'man art is hard' and 'please validate the existance of my fursona'

I have an account but I barely use it. I tried being active on it but honestly I have a life beyond a mobile device screen. unless you are extremely popular of active it's hard tk be found or noticed on it. I also noticed the algorithm for posts in twitter is more broken than FB and FB is pretty broken. doesn't help that I have tweets in my feed that are hardcoded into twitter and I wish I could never see em so that bogs it down even more.

when I have used Twitter tho, I've noticed it's community to be extremely toxic and aggressive and it makes it hard to enjoy it.

1. I'm not interested in social media.
2. I don't like when twitter floods the feed with messages from people I don't know and don't care about.
3. It has no functions for art content. No gallery where I can freely browse all creations of an artist, nothing else. To watch older posts I just have to scroll down for hours.

Avoiding social networks like the plague they are! Image sites and such are eating enough time from me already! I heard it is a bad place, but I am not interested to find that out myself. The only Twitter page I ever visit is FA's own page to find out the reason of the ongoing outage(s)...

I'm on Twitter but I only watch artists, some cute Japanese zoo animal photographers (you get nice videos too!) and some pokemon stuff. If somebody randomly retweets something political? I mute the account that is retweeted and move on. I prefer browsing on the mobile site because the force stuff at the side you don't really want to see on the browser site isn't shown.

Given I'm someone who just made a reddit account and ONLY visits two groups (both transformers related) on then, I, like others, tend to avoid social media.

I honestly don't want to leave myself exposed to people who will never have my interests at heart, no matter what my feelings on any subject matter.

I just don't like twitter. I'm a mobile user and fo some reason twitter is just a massive nuisance to use for me. And I just don't see much reason to jump through the hassle of getting it to work and navigate around it.

For one, I don't like the lack of direct feedback and how troublesome it is to try to look through an artist's work. I like it when there's a clear cut gallery without socio-political bs and retweets of other peoples' art to weed through.

And probably more notable is my and more importantly my wife's social safety, more or less. She has a few interests the sjw twitterites don't take too kindly to, and she would probably be "cancelled" in a minute if she got so much as a modicum of attention there.

Tl;dr I don't got the time and mental health for all that nonsense, lol

Disinterest in social media in general. I had a tumbler but that was only to follow some artist that moved there before it went ass up and a face book only to post monster hunter related stuff I capture. I prefer to keep my internet footprint small.

I only have two twitters; one I use to follow ERP accounts and porn artists, and the other I use for memes. However, despite this, I don't really like going there, because no matter how many buzzwords and political terms I block, theres always a new one to annoy me

I don't do social media. I have a twitter account that I use when it is necessary, no more than that.

For me, it's two major things.

1) Twitter's format for all forms of media it hosts (text, pictures, and video) is very limiting. The fact that you can't choose the preview for your photo content is offensive to me, and is harmful to creators -- presentation is everything. Video formatting is also very confusing on Twitter.

2) Algorithmic content distribution creates a significant disadvantage to creators who don't already have a following. Twitter's algorithms effectively silence those who don't already have popularity of some kind.

I've recently left Twitter because of its limitations, and for how inauthentic social interactions are on it. It's designed as a popularity contest. I prefer sites like FA, where I have the option to browse the newest content without algorithmic discrimination against less popular creators.

I'm on twitter mainly to follow the same artists as I do on FA and DA. Even so, I don't use it much because the presentation of the info tends to just be a flood that I can't handle.

Also the twitter user base is way more obnoxious ever since the tumblr porn ban caused a mass migration.

I despise the systems and algorithms of the platform, they cultivate a toxic non contructive competitive enviroment. Don't take me wrong Patrix, I like competition, but not this kind, it just causes frustration and discouragement. There's a lot I can write on what is wrong with Twitter but just for a simple example: People than post once in a blue moon gets the short end of the stick. The algorithms punish them for not being active enough.

I'll do anything I have in my power to attract as much of my traffic I can to other places as FA or Pillowfort.
Pillowfort in the other hand is kino! Even if it is in beta.

I run a VERY heavily curated experience on Twitter - an account has to be either art-only, or pretty much only posting about art. Between a growing list of mute keywords, (muting 'retweet' and 'raffle' cut down on that spam a LOT). I deliberately keep my follow list small enough that I can keep up with every tweet, I think I'm following around 97 artists at the moment. It's not an echo chamber so much as a neverending art gallery, since all I'm there for is the art.

Ironically, I'm not sure I'd even follow myself at the moment. :P

I have a twitter and I greatly dislike it. Even when a friend showed me how to disable seeing retweets and such from people I follow, the site is optimized in a way that basically forces you to always see some sort of promoted content or hot topics regardless of it being blacklisted or ignored. The ability to instantly share and show a reaction with just one click is both a blessing and a curse, as the way twitter is being used is a " see it and go" reaction. This only seems to promote cancel culture type things. I am always willing to listen to big important issues, but I am far more on the side of " let's hear both sides of the story", and I do not like to make ultimatum decisions based on word of mouth alone or sketchy screenshots that could have easily been cherry picked out of context. A surge of numbers is not always a judge's verdict. Just because thousands of people are retweeting about so and so's next big drama doesn't mean it's fully true. Take the general public's reaction to the pandemic for example. There's such a vast number of individuals claiming this is all fake and only for political reasons both online and in real life, but there's still a portion of the population taking it seriously and doing their own research in a responsible manner. I feel that twitter's majority population has lost its ability to think for themselves/research/make decisions/judge others in a reasonable, responsible, and respectable way. I don't really know if this is any one person or corporation's fault though. But twitter's platform allows it to prosper a little too easily. I find it to be toxic mentally, so, I do my best to not use it often. A shame though. The way it works, it definitely does help with easier/quicker publicity.

I don't care about people's "every 10 minutes life updates" or w/e. I wanna post art and look at art and maybe once in a blue moon interact with a person so Twitter's MO doesn't sit with me. With FA (and other more art-focused sites eg. Pixiv) I also get art of people I follow, not a "retweet of a retweet of a raffle of an ad of an art"

IMO, Twitter is a disorganized mess which focuses on the most toxically superficial elements of social media while being almost hostile to the sharing of art. It's perfect for snarking at/about strangers or sharing photos of your lunch, but not much use for anything else.

I got on Twitter cause the artists I follow are there. But lately, I've been growing more and more desensitized to all the fire and toxicity that I've been trying to develop mental filters to block it all out. This is why I've been so resistant to get on Twitter to begin with.

It's been some time since i last used Twitter but it's mostly because
A: I'm Asocial and find it difficult to make use of social media, i don't have much to say or contribute
B: it's not that great of a art platform
C: A lot of artists i used to follow started going on heavy political rants which clogged up my feed, which is the last thing i want to see when i come home from a long day of work

I have a twitter to monitor updates when FA gets DDOS'd by asshats and haters. but aside from that, i detest social media as a filth-ridden cesspool of narcissism and bigotry. Also Trump is on there.

Been on Twitter since 2009-ish, and it's kind of like FA here where it's like, sure would be nice to move to another site if everyone else could agree to. I don't keep up with Twitter suuuper often these days, I pop in a few times a day usually to make a tweet, and keep up with artists via RSS feed.

For me the issues I have with Twitter are the way it's run.

Facebook I THINK was the first to implement the dumb "Your timeline by default displays what we think is the most important content" setup that I've now seen come to Twitter and even Instagram, and I've yet to see a person actually defend or approve of that design choice. I can't even wrap my head around the choice - is it designed with the users in mind at all?

Granted, when I say how much I hate that feature, it's moreso the mere concept of the site implementing it that bugs me. I have used Tweetdeck for almost the entirety I've been on Twitter because the site's layout has never been appealing - Tweetdeck also displays your timeline properly with filter options, and options in general, that Twitter should have. There was some point where Twitter actually put some kind of ban on that kind of service, and I think as a result Tweetdeck went from being a .exe to just being a site, so I hope it doesn't further get destroyed.

I've also come to really dislike promoted tweets, weirdly enough because of RSS feeds. I use RSS to follow artists so I don't miss anything, which used to involve using a site that creates a feed. But Twitter thankfully updated at one point to include RSS feed capability. However, if you chose to follow a user's entire tweet feed instead of just photos, the RSS would toss in a promoted tweet several times a day.

Promoted tweets do largely consist of valid ads and causes, but because they are seemingly unfiltered, you also get people promoting their Twitch channel; People putting a megaphone to their political opinions and conspiracy theories; People promoting their selfies because they think they're hot shit; And the occasional "#newprofilepic" that consists of several replies asking why this tweet was promoted. Legit, I don't think Twitter cares about filtering who can pay to promote their tweet because it makes them more money this way.

RSS feeds have changed again since then and thankfully don't include promoted stuff, but they also took out the ability to exclusively follow photo uploads so I'm not too happy bout that.

Seems like Twitter is a nice place to promote stuff and it's where a lot of decent folks are gathered, but for sure I keep using things like Tweetdeck and RSS so that I never have to open the actual site so that probably says something about them lol

Twitter is just as bad for artists as Tumblr was. No galleries, no descriptions, all your work gets swept up and lost in the endless sea of useless meme retweets/reblogs. Worst of all both is how both Twitter and Tumblr mutilate art by using .jpg compression on all images as well as automatically resizing them down against any say of the uploader.

And of course, we can't just ignore the elephant in the room; the sheer vitriolic political hatred everyone has for anyone who even slightly disagrees with them.

As soon as my account was made, I got banned for no reason and to this day my account is still banned... I mainly used it because I had no other means to create an account for a game called PonyTown and for some reason Twitter thought I was botting so they just... locked my account. And now it's just suspended out of nowhere.

And looking back at Twitter these days, it's just become nothing but a toxic cesspool, so I'm doing my best to avoid it at all costs.

I did Facebook to stay in touch with family in other states. One social media platform is enough. I just don't like Twitter, it's unorganized. If you want to find a certain image or something, you have to just scroll for hours on a profile til you find it.

Because for starters its not an art gallery. i like the artist and all but i dont need to see every like, every reblog, and every other update about their life every 5 minutes.

my feed is almost 90% of things i dont care about. when i actively try to find an artists work be prepared to scroll for minutes on end and sometimes you'll just flat out never find it, maybe the artist took down what you're looking for you'll never know.

I quickly find out some the people i follow are into some pretty gross stuff becouse the site is constantly sharing everything they like. as far as i know theres no official way to block these. i came online one time to find a bunch of real porn (which is another problem) of people shoving bottles up their ass. if someone were to stumble upon my PC i think they would think something was wrong with me XD

sometimes i like to message artists and talk to them about things, maybe ask for their permission to say draw NSFW of their OC, if they have DMs disabled then to my knowledge theres no way to to ask an embarrassing question like that without making it fully public.

I was a huge Twitter user back in the day, but I eventually grew tired of it for many reasons and deleted the account. I have a throwaway account mainly for the porn artists and some other accounts, but it’s turned into a “wretched hive of scum and villainy”. It’s not the platform, it’s the people.

I play among us which is almost the same but its actually fun

I just wanted to rebrand and practice at my own rate. It's been significantly harder to network with other artists. Ultimately, I'm just waiting for a cozy new place to post art in peace.

Technically, I *am* on Twitter, but only because I didn't want someone taking my name and doing weird shit with it. I made an account, but I literally never use it except by some weird off chance, and honestly I feel uncomfortable going there and leave immediately.
