Lore: The Thaldri (Boreal Drakes)

General
The Thaldri (Boreal Drakes):
Boreal Drakes, or Thaldri in their native tongue, are a dragon-like species hailing from the central region of Elthrin, and are at odds with the Cythos who live further North. They get their name from the Thal Mountains to which they call home, a steep and craggy region that is difficult to transverse for most creatures, but the Drakes have adapted to be adept climbers, as well as make their homes within the mountains themselves. However, some have chosen to live a nomadic lifestyle, giving life to the subsets of Northern and Southern Thaldri respectfully.
General Physiology:
The Thaldri are apex predators that are very much built for their cold climate, having thick fur that covers their body and long fluffy tails that they can wrap around themselves for further warmth. Their bulky paws are heavily padded with large claws that aid in climbing steep cliffs and transversing rocky plains and frozen fields. The fur on the underside of their paws is sparse, to avoid snow clumping.
Along with large paws and thick coats of fur, Thaldri also have large ears that are able to swivel around to listen for predator and prey alike, and keen eyesight to lock onto anything they may be hunting. Thaldri have rows of long spikes from their tails that serve as a defense mechanism, a vestige from their prehistoric ancestors.
Although dinosaur, or draconic in appearance, Thaldri are warm-blooded, as are much of the fauna on Elithrin. They give live birth, as well as breastfeed their young with nutrient rich mother's milk in order for their 'cubs' to grow large enough to thrive on their own. However, if raised in a warmer region, they will instead lay eggs as a way to conserve energy.
They are not the best when it comes to running, rather hunting in packs to outsmart their prey instead of relying on pure speed.
Every Drake has horns in some shape or form as a way to regulate temperature. If they become too cold, they may use their horns to soak up heat from the sun. It also aids in healthy circulation, regulating bloodflow to maintain optimal temperature.
Boreal Drakes are very curious about their surroundings, showing a healthy interest in the world around them. They tend to keep with packs and raise their families within their given communities, forming strong bonds with one another. This way of bonding kept their numbers up and aided in survival during their evolution.
By nature, the Drakes are a spiritual people, telling tales of how they were blessed by Mother Winter that allowed them to take on the form of their more ancestral selves. It is also said that she blessed them with elemental breath, as well as uplifted them into being sentient beings. Due to a matronly figure being the stable in their beliefs, females hold slightly more power, but still see equality between genders.
Northern Thaldri:
The Thaldri that remained in their mountainous home, finding safety there among the steep cliffs and harsh weather. The Northerners are much more peaceful and spiritual, as well as the most commonly seen among their species. They are adept in being diplomatic and scholarly, but still retain their ancestral heritage of being fierce predators.
Southern Thaldri:
Much more nomadic than their Northern counterparts, the Southern Thaldri have shorter fur, and favor war and honor above all, embracing their ancestry of fierce predators. Due to their ways of travel, and penchant to stay in war-bands, they are not too commonly seen, as they are never in one place for too long.
