Weird Drowning Dreams
First one I was onboard a boat with a lot of people. The boat sails into a storm and suddenly gets hit with hurricane force winds. I cling to a metal pole as I'm pelted with torrents of water. Despite being on the inside of the boat. I couldn't see anything other than the blurred clearness of the water. I could feel the coldness of the water, the moister in the air. Deafened by the howling winds. It all felt so real. Suddenly the storm subsided and it was revealed everyone was miraculously alright. We sailed back to our rundown port area and exited the boat.
Second one was the night before last. I'm at the beach with my family. All of a sudden we find out theres going to be a tidal wave. We gather our stuff and begin evacuating the beach. I can see huge brown waves in the distance under gray skies. The city is made up of many apartment buildings. As the water rises I'm separated from my family and somehow end up in some grungy restaurant on higher ground. The crowds have dispersed, leaving a mess in their wake of items that couldn't be brought with them. Only people left behind are me and some undesirables. Its quickly getting darker outside, with buildings now lit up. A group of people along with myself spot a very tall new looking building, and take the elevator to the top floor with the woman who ran the building. Among the lavish settings, real estate pamphlets, and folding tables and chairs we watched as water engulfed the smaller buildings below. Most of the upper floor consisted of a huge glass atrium. The bright city was surrounded by the blackness of night. We could only see what was in our immediate area. The heavy waves were undermining smaller buildings, causing them to collapse. Our flimsy feeling of safety was short-lived, as larger buildings just below ours were falling to the whim of the tides. Power was out in most of what was left of the city now, a generator keeping the lights on where we were now. We had no idea how long that would last. I don't actually recall if it ended okay. Might've woken up before that.
I wanted to write these down because of how vivid they were. I can't describe to you enough how real this all felt. It was like being in these places in real life.

My guess is your going through or just went through some stress about the future, but your less stressed and now have a more positive view than you did on the outcome (dream 1)
Dream 2 because of the same things turning in your head, but an even more positive outlook on the future since you could more easy react to the situation, take some control, and get some safety - nice tall building, still with power, ritzy-ish place... no conclusion and that irritating.
Funny cause I had one yesterday, and i cant recall a thing about the dream now, but i recall having one and my alarm breaking it off. As I got up It was fleeting in my mind but i was pissed that what was going on in the stupid thing got interrupted as I was waiting for the other shoe to drop in that REM adventure.
I should start writing them down as soon as I wake up when they are interesting like you did. Just a snippet of recollection of a dream recalled later usually brings the whole thing back from your memories.
I could never truly understand dreams... I just figure it a release for the psyche rather than keeping all the stress inside...

But that's just a theory. A conspiracy theory!
I remember having the recurring nightmare of drowning, and I could see an enormous bat on my chest as it was happening. He told me that people all over the world would get sick until humanity decided not to eat forbidden animals. Of course, not only were they terrifying, but I woke up gasping for air, with a feeling that there was water in the upper chest. I coughed incessantly, had a fever, and felt like I was in constant hangover with headaches and the whole thing. Also, I couldn't taste or smell anything for a few days and my breathing got so bad I felt I was going to need an inhaler. After four days of this, I felt better, but I still don't know what it was I got. And lastly, how would one know if an animal is "forbidden" or not?
