any good art website recommendations?
I made an inkbunny https://inkbunny.net/cryptidcat and a furrynetwork https://furrynetwork.com/cryptidcat/ account because i find furaffinity to have a lot of spam on the front page.
anyone know any good serious websites for young artists looking to learn and improve their art?
i eventually want to make an artstation (when i feel comfortable with my portfolio) but i dont think im up to that skill yet. ive been feeling more and more lately that furaffinity has far too much spam and inkbunny weirdly has a lot of cub art (which makes me uncomfortable). i am also finding that the furrynetwork seems to only be good for already popular artists, as the newest page focuses on most favorite/most popular work. i guess im just looking for a site that has a majority user base of serious artists looking to work on their skills together and give each other feedback. something like what conceptart.org used to be back in the early 2000s (i really missed out on that LOL).
while i am a furry i do make nonfurry art and i love painting humans, landscapes, houses, ect, literally anything i just love painting in general. i would really like to find like minded artists along with a website that encourages personal growth in your art.

FA+

im just so intimidated by artstation, haha! but i do agree that it would be a good idea. i find i work better when i have art examples to aspire to, i feel it gives me more direction.
out of curiosity, what are you building your portfolio for? im in a weird grey zone thanks to covid where i was going to transition to 3d sculpting, but now find my finances for classes are iffy.
i went to art school for a year and a half in a toronto school that said they would teach me concept art, but i found the education really chaotic and too expensive. also most of the teachers there didnt know what they were doing (the life drawing teacher for year 1 couldnt draw hands... lol) and i just couldnt justify the expenses. the school was also weirdly homophobic- which i wasnt expecting from an art school. but oh well!
im lucky because i met my husband there but once we talked about it we figured it would just be better for us to become self taught/learn online. i was going to take courses with cgma but now that you mention domestika... i should take a look and see what they have.
concept art is a really cool job profession though! do you have any specific video game genre that you really like?
i almost went into concept art but realized i liked making finished stuff a lot more. i just find it more satisfying to spend a week on a sculpture than pump out a bunch of different designs for one thing.
i find i learn better when im not stressed out cramming for assignments and working my ass off at a part-time job to afford tuition. ive found that over the last year ive learned more from self teaching than i did in my 1.5 years at art school.
why was the online curriculum a huge mistake? did they put less effort in it than irl courses?
nice! fantasy stuff is fun and is always in high demand lol. i like a lot of fantasy concept art- i feel like its more light hearted than the current sci-fi being made. not that there is anything wrong with more serious dystopian sci-fi, but i just find making designs for that genre to be too depressing for me lol. which is funny because i actually really enjoy dark fantasy/gothic fantasy, but i feel that dark fantasy in the realm of clive barker is oddly less depressing than dystopian sci-fi? idk! designing art for fantasy horror is way more fun for me than sci-fi dystopian horror.
yeah, i can understand that too. its why ive been meaning to switch it up recently and do some plen air painting with gouache before the weather turns to absolute shit lol. btw, do you know how to use maya/zbrush? ive just started with both of them, zbrush feels pretty organic so far but the course i took on maya made me rip my hair out lol.
you too! i wish you the best of luck as well! your art is really awesome and i think your comics have some really nice compositions/visual story telling.
btw i checked out domestika and their intro to zbrush course is exactly what i was looking for. thanks so much for mentioning it- actually saved me a lot of money and worry because cgma's courses was like, 600 dollars. so far the course is excellent too! thank you!
