PATREON SHUT DOWN, looking into setting up for DONATIONS
5 years ago
General
As some of you may know by now, my Patreon was rightfully shut down due to inactivity.
I'm so sorry for those that were enjoying the OENAF series, especially to those who pledged, but it turns out I'm not cut out for comics.
I've been hoping I'd be passed this by now, but it appears that I cannot stay focused on a single theme for too long otherwise I not only get burned out, but I lose all interest of ever returning to this specific story.
This is been a general problem and is why I usually do loops and no more.
If a project takes somewhere between 1-7 days to finish, I quickly lose interest in it and either take forever to return to it, or never at all.
So I try to complete a project within one day at best.
My original plan was to put it on hiatus and return to it when I had the motivation and felt confident that I could continue it without the quality degrading.
But the further I looked back on the spelling mistakes I had made, the more it made me just feel like it wouldn't be worth it.
I was pretty much in a HL3 situation, except I chose to abandon it entirely.
So instead, I'm going to be looking into what is the most convenient for me to set up for donations for people to freely donate to me if they wish to.
The stuff that I provide here and on e621 has always been the stuff I've enjoyed doing the most.
However, once I started the comic, I felt like I had to choose one or the other.
I didn't want to have to set up these usual rewards and tiers and figure them out, because I'm no good at that.
Instead, I wanted to continue doing what I've always been doing. Working on anything I wanted with the possibility of receiving donations as a sign of genuine appreciation.
And then follow that up with an occasional poll/survey for everyone to show me exactly what they want, rewarding everyone.
The people donating will increase the odds of me doing another poll/survey.
And everyone else will get the opportunity to fill it out with what they want.
I then may post additional polls/surveys to narrow down some details.
I was thinking of using the "Shinies Tipping System" first, but now I'm not so sure, as my personal e-mail would be exposed.
So I may have to look into other alternatives.
This is why I didn't do so well in Patreon.
I was trying to set it up and treat it as a donation box, nothing more.
So now I need to look into an alternative method to set up a donation box that does not reveal my personal e-mail address or my full name.
In the end, the system that I'm trying to set up would only add to my existing content.
Not only will I be doing what I've always been doing, but I will also be occasionally moved by enough donations to release a poll/survey so that everyone can vote on a specific thing they want me to do.
As of right now, I'm currently in the process of posting a temporary submission announcing my first poll, to test out the system and results and get a better understanding on my watchers and their preferences.
Thank you for reading, and I'm sorry it took me two years to post another journal.

no email exposure.
I signed up and i havent used it yet at least until im ready to use it.
You can do art packs and sell them to make money just like artist furryrevolution.
Donations might and might not work. Furries sometimes can be frugal or dont have
cash, or dont donate at all.
So if you make a living off of artwork, you should do art packs if you are unable to keep up
monthly updates. At least the art packs are there, and what you offer. Art commissions are good but if one cant keep up (like me), and it stacks, and cant catch up, yeah art packages would be the way to go. At least the person will get art for money.
A pro-tip, furries love color. So far ive seen reposts and they are 98% usually color.
I wouldnt 100% rely on tips. I have tip jar out, and i have yet to get a tip but i did get tipped once from someone on stream for doing free sketches. It was only $10 but appreciated though.
Good luck, i hope it works out for you.
