1) You are not always right.
2) The other guy is not always wrong.
3) Tantrums only work for so long.
4) If you can't say something nice, keep your damn trap shut.
Selah.

Now we've got a generation entering their 30s (and another one in high school right now) who grew up online, with smartphones in their pockets, for whom text-on-a-screen is the normal mode of communication. They don't make the same distinction between online and real life interactions, and tend to behave the same way in both contexts.
There are old fogeys who act this way too though, so it's not strictly a generational thing. My hypothesis is that the more time you spend using "social media" the worse you become as a person.

1 & 2) Being wrong can be humbling because at least are WILLING to listen
and not act like an insufferable prick. Nobody needs any more Sheldon Coopers from the
"Big Bang Theory". There are too many in the world already that you can't take out with
a right cross. Might doesn't always make right, but what can you do? And it helps to not
argue any further on it.
3) When a grown person resorts to tantrums, even the KIDS think less of you! And if they
have or had kids, THEIR KIDS think even LESS of their parents in the maturity department!
4) All too often, this piece of advice is ignored too much. Not by me, though.
I just shake my head and go back to what I was doing.
