But it was no better than GOOD. It wasn't GREAT. It was a bit better than merely OKAY.

But I cut it a lot of slack since I saw the original when it was simply a film festival piece.

I did notice that the number of journals saying "OMG I can't wait to see 9 it looks awesome!!!" vastly overshadowed the number of journals saying "OMG I just saw 9 it was awesome!!!" Vastly. Mayhap this is why...

you could have just watched the short film it is based on they are exactly the same except one is shorter and is free to watch on youtube.

Part of the reason I liked 9 so much was because I saw the animated short first, and knew the story behind it. It's a huge thing at the college I'm attending, which focuses on 3D animation and the like, so this was more of a cult movie for me. But the fact that that short was seen by Tim Burton and was made into a theatrical movie was the main part of the magic for me.

Yes, it could've been better, but when you think about it, the fact that they extended something like 5 or 6 minutes of animation into a full feature-length film is impressive in itself.

My cousin was tremendously psyched about seeing that movie, ever since I linked her to the teaser trailer, like back in February. I asked her how it was, and she said it's depressing. I don't she cared much for it.

Is this 9, or District 9? One posesses ragdolls in post-apocalyptica. The other talks about ghetto aliens in Johannesburg.

He's talking about "9". I paid £4.30 to see "District 9" and I think I got my money's worth - it was absolutely utterly awesome. Also, I don't eat skittles at the cinema - they are too sweet and sickly. When watching films, I eat a bag of Kettle Chips (£1.15 from supermarket) and have a cup of coffee (£1.40 from snack booth) to quench my thirst.

Are you factoring in some sort of student/elderly/veteran discount? In the states you can't see a movie and get something to eat and drink for less than $20USD. It's like every time I go to the movies the price has risen another couple of dollars leaving me in a perpetual state of shock.

It may be that the Engs do things quite differently over in Britland.

I got a student discount, saving me £1.10 on the Admission price (usually £5.40 for adults). And yea, popcorn there is about £2 for a reasonably sized box. Still, I guess its cheap as the cinema I head to is in a run-down low-quality resort town (Cleethorpes). Either that or the impossible is going on and Britain is cheaper for viewing movies...

Ha, food from outside the theater is contraband here. I wouldn't even risk sneaking anything past the box office and eating it in the theater, because I swear they watch everybody on closed circuit cameras. Once had an usher come by and chastise me and a friend for putting our feet on the seat in front of us. I mean, how else could they know?! It was a crowded theater, in the middle of the movie, and it's not like ushers are out on patrol or anything. THEY ARE WATCHING.

Tim Burton and his protégés are hacks. Why do I find myself reminding people of this *every* time one of them makes a damn movie?

I was rather impressed by the film, but I do agree in that it was much too short. As for the Skittles, Gaia must've got to ya, huh?

I've heard that about it, but I want to see it anyways just for the beautiful visuals I keep hearing about. Not to mention the monsters that look like they came out of one of MY darker dreams.

With that said, I'll probably skip the theater and wait to rent it on DVD.

It´s surprising. thought everyone spected to be the utterly awesome animated movie of the year.

I had the same impression with Coraline. It chugged along looking visually interesting for 2/3 of the film, then the action picked up and lasted all of maybe 20 mins..
