That’s insane! That’s a lot more than my model train collection even though I don’t collect as much as the other people in that hobby. Also, I don’t remember how much I spent in this fandom since I’m not in it as long as you are, but it’s far less than that since I don’t spend on commissions and went to three ACs (2015-2017).

Even with making my own fursuits and most of my fursuits are just heads 60+ fursuits do really do add up fast.

Now with regards to the fur cons that is assuming all cost involved including traveling expenses and hotels.

I only have one homemade suit, but I do wish to get another one someday. As for the cons, I live near AC, but I didn't pay to stay overnight in any of their nearby hotels, but I traveled instead on certain days. Good times though and hopefully that can happen again one day.

I have a specific calculated budget per year for tf, furrycon and ponyplay related stuff. It would otherwise be going to videogames or books or the travels I already do to see the world. I have actually only that as a "hobby" not expensive nonsense like some people of collecting cars or so. But I'm very strict in what I calculate. So when I travel (not during corona) I look if there are furry cons in large cities to do there sightseeing in front or after. If there would be a convention in Paris just as example I would go to visit the con for 3-4 days or so and 2 weeks to see the rest of Paris and would do sightseeing with the Louvre and so on as my yearly holiday travel.
Like I always did in the past. So did I visit Danzig in Poland after the furry Gdakon and Copenhagen incl. basically all major points of interests of castles of the Scandinavian Kings to the museums of Denmark in the capitol city about vikings, danish culture and such in front of the Nordic Fuzz Con to basically have a con, but also a complete travel to important cultural marks there as world tournee. I always try to condense as much information as cheap as possible and as practical and logical as possible. Not to just hang around.
I do actually hate the behaviour of people like to fly to greece for 2 weeks just to sit at a bar to drink alcohol and never visiting any landmarks like the ancient greek temples and such.
I know people going to furry cons just sitting in the hotel lobby and flying back home, while they did not even see the city where the con was located. I would get mad of this cultural wastelands and lack of any interest.

Some people just could not care less about history or a cities/countries landmarks. If sitting in a bar is their thing who are we to judge them. It's their money to spend as they wish. There are people that say buying drawing of humanoid animals or a animal costume that costs more than $50 is stupid and a wast of money. As long as it's their legally obtained money they can do with it as they please.

You miss the point. When you can't tell what town or city you were even in, and just sit in an arbitrary room A and room B - a flight of 6 or 12 hours is irresponsible beside for the flight company's income (of course) and CO2 emission to pester the climate further lol. Normally I would say: Okay they went there for the social interactions and maybe hook up for some bedstories - but even that is there not the case, which is even more strange.

More strange like say having someone dress you up as a horse, attach you up to a horse cart and make you pull them around as if you where actually a horse. That kind of even more strange?

No because that is not as expensive and you see the landscape. It would be odd to travel across the world to do. That is critcized by myself EQUALLY. Like "Oh you can be a horse in a barn for a week...but you need to buy 2 flight tickets for $3000 to australia and back." That is more like: I don't know how to organize a proper location nearby a 1 hour car drive at max. lol
Or if you then not even actually pull a cart there but be in the stable box to stay there around XD

People have their own ideas what is a good choice. It's not for others to tell them what they can and can't do with their own money. Maybe its something in their bucket list was to travel the world and hit as many bars in other countries as they can.

Or it could be that they where dragged there by someone else and they where just wasting time until it was time to head home.

Or they where there on business and the meeting they went there for was rescheduled for the next week and it would have been a wast of money to head back home and then come back the next week.

Oh I did not exclude to travel from pub to pub or to test the "Haute Cuisine" in the local restaurants - but even there are some people failing. So in the sense if you are in Italy or France to visit insider tips or just out there for real comfort food. You see then Burgers from McDonalds of the end of the street or from the bar they sit in all day and night or in the case of the hotel restaurant maybe for $20 a Burger, where you pay for a whole meal with original regional wine or local ingredients the same price just 10 minutes away. The response is: "Oh there was a restaurant? I only saw the conhotel and the airport hall to check in and out. (No joke)

If you want to hear a story of a total wast of money. A few years ago I picked up a load of pipe and drove it a over 1200 miles. After unloading the pipe I went less than 10 miles away to the next town over and picked up the exactly same kind of pipe and took it back to where I picked up the first load of pipe. Or how about loading a bunch of fruit driving it something like 3000 miles just to be put into different boxes and sent back to where I got the load from in the first place.

Become a truck driver you will learn real quick to just say, "What ever you want as long as you pay me!"

One time I got one over on a shipper who was trying to be cheap. They ordered and paid for one pick up and one delivery. Well they wanted me to go pick up another load to fill the trailer. I left town with only a half load. There was nothing that could be done to me as I was ordered by company to make only one pick up. Now if I did pick up the second load I could have gotten into trouble as I was only ordered by my company to make only one pick up

Yeah that is another example.

People have always spent money on their hobbies and interests, like you.. but different people have different entertainment budgets. In the last year, I have spent about $12,000 on my hobbies, and they are not even done yet.

Yeah only $12,000 this year and maybe well over $100,000 in total on that race car of yours that will never see a race or you will ever actually drive. Spending money on something you will use makes sense but keep dumping money on something that is just going to sit and rust make no sense

Says the guy with 60+ fursuits? oh, just to be clear, I am De-Evolving the "race car", so it will be "barely" street legal... So, yes, it will be driven.

You know, you really have no clue how many cars I have restored over the years, starting in 1980 with a 70 nova, then a 71 nova, then a malibu, then a 62 corvair, then a 65 buick special ( with the all aluminum V8), then my 72 chevy truck in 1990, and my 49 ford F5 which i have a Trophy around here someplace, then my VW sand rail with a 2180, 67 mercury montclair, that my brothers wife just HAD to have, then my black nova, which i have a trophy for in the garage, then my 1945 clarkat, then my black Truck, which i have in the yard and runs and drives, then my jeep crawler, which i took out and did the 3-day Rubicon trail 2 months ago, and now i just finished putting a new engine into my orange and white truck, and I am still waiting for the engine block to be clearanced for the aluminum rods for my old-ex race car. so you see, I have a long history of fixing up vehicles and selling them. other cars that i just fixed up a bit and sold include 65 nova, 66 nova, 72 nova, 73 nova, 65 AMC marlin and 56 chevy 210 and a 68 toyota corolla, 76 vega,... so, yeah, i have a LONG history of completing my projects. also helped make someones "hooves"...

So in other words You just cant stop dumping money into cars.
