And I'll tell ye why!

For fans of the TV shows created by the late great Gerry Anderson, there is a podcast that comes out every Monday hosted by his son Jamie and a former supporting actor in his show Space Precinct Richard James.

A couple of weeks ago they talked about how many people actually listen all the way to the end of the podcast. See, after the ending theme, Jamie and Richard engage in banter, usually very comical, before the podcast officially ends. Running the metrics they see that out of the number of people tuning in only about 27% (37%?) stay to the very very end.

Last week's show, the banter after the end theme had Jamie asking Richard why he rejected his pre-ordered Christmas present, a 2020 Thunderbirds ugly Christmas sweater (they do a different design every year). Richard said the reason was that he is not taking in anything into the house that he doesn't need, so as not to clutter the place up, like my house is bulging with things we don't need. So, this put an extra sweater up for grabs.

Now my birthday was last Saturday, thanks for nobody wishing me happy birthday everyfur and one of my gifts was a $50 gift card to The Gerry Anderson Store (http://shop.gerryanderson.co.uk) and I bought mine. At the end of the podcast they decided to have a contest: if you were one of the ones still listening, submit an email stating the reason why you would like to win Richard James' sweater and if picked you got it for free!

Years ago my wife and I always used to wear matching T-shirts everywhere we went. Earlier this year I got her turned on to Thunderbirds; she liked it already, now she's seen the entire run of the show with me. I thought, wouldn't that be a really cool present for her. And I sent in an email.

The moral: Always listen all the way through your podcasts, you never know what can happen!
