In the middle of the South Emricoan Great Jungle, hidden away from the civilization, lived a primitive tribe of quadruped dragons. They were low on the technical level: they lived in huts, hunted with spears, grew some very basic crops and had some had a livestock of sheep. The didn’t know modern materials like glass or iron, they only knew what nature provided them: stone, earth, leather, wood, and so on. But they did know something that the average anthro of the present day did not: magic. Their shaman knew the forces of nature, how to heal the wounded, how to increase the luck in a hunt, how to find clear water, and how to grow the crops bigger to feed everyone.
And that’s why Ada, a young dragon of the hunters headed toward the shaman’s but. The green scaled member of the tribe felt too short for his age, and the others constantly mocked them that one they will accidentally hunt him instead of the rabbits. Ada growled, as he walked on the dirt path, constantly comparing his paw prints to the others. Indeed, the gods did not bless him with size, as he was not much bigger than a child – not really suitable for a hunter.
“Not fair,” he mumbled. He really, really hoped that the shaman can help. It would be beneficial for the whole village if he were like 5 duut tall (roughly 5 feet), like the other hunters, instead of his usual size of 3 duut. His logic was growing him a bit bigger could be done just as easily as growing crops...

“Hi? Mister Sukotto?” he approached slowly. The shaman was a powerful and respected member of the village. Ada didn’t want to bother him. “I’m sorry if I came in a wrong moment... But...I would like to ask a favour...” He gulped and stepped closer, trying to gain some confident. “Can you make me... Bigger?” He then explained how he hates himself being so small and bullied constantly by the other dragons. “I don’t ask much... I hope... Just a little bit taller... Can you do it for me? I mean, for the community?”
He looked up at the shaman with big puppy eyes.
“Yes, I do want to be bigger! I can finally hunt properly! And reach the top shelves in the community hut! And maybe the others finally look up to me!” He imagined walking into the hut, and everyone drops their mouth when they see little Ada not so little anymore... But as tall as the others! Or maybe even a little bit taller...
Ada nodded his head with a smile, wagging his tail with excitement.
“Did it work?” he asked, and opened his eyes. He looked at himself, at his hands, arms, legs, tail – but he couldn’t see any difference. He then measured himself to the doorframe. Nothing. Not an inch. He was still the same old small dragon.
“I guess it didn’t work,” said Ada with a disappointed voice. He looked up at the shaman with broken heart. “Now what? Do you have a stronger one, perhaps...?”
“Come on! Work! Work!” he growled, trying to stretch, as if that helped any. But no matter how much he tried, apart from the strange feeling, he did not experience anything. Definitely not growth.
Suddenly another one of the hunter dragons came into the hut, namely Tyr. “There you are, pipsqueak!” he addressed Ada with a chuckle. “Come now! Boss wants to fill the meat list. We need more rabbits to catch. You might fit inside their hole to lure them out!” He grinned. His words hurt much to Ada, but he grinned his teeth in silence.
“Shaman, are you coming, wishing us good luck?” asked Tyr.
As he was walking around silently, he suddenly noticed some movement in the distance. Rabbits! He laid low, sneaking closer and closer. He was small and silent – maybe he can catch one after all! Wouldn’t that make the others finally proud? As he licked his lips, a strange warmness spread from his stomach through his body...
And then his paw broke the branch.
“What the heck” he thought. How did the branch suddenly was under his sole? But he couldn’t think too much of it, because the bunnies ran away hearing the noise. Ada cursed. Now he have to look for another prey!
Luckily a few minutes later he found another nest of rabbits. This time he decided to chase them back toward the others. He circled around, and suddenly jumped forward. The rabbits ran just as he planned. He ran after them - he usually lost sight after a while, but this time he was able to keep up. This surprised the little dragon.
When he arrived at the hunting point, the others already cought the rabbits.
"Nice work, pipsqueak!" said said Tyr with a chuckle, then he suddenly became silent. Something seemed strange as he looked down at Ada. He didn't have to tilt his head that much this time. Is Ada standing on a pile of dirt?
Later that day, he went playing with the children. He was one of the few adults who did that, and the only hunter – probably because they were similar in size. Except now he seemed a bit above the others. But that might be because the kids likes to crawl and lay low.
This time they played hide and find. One of the players hide an object, an arrow in this case, and the others has to find it. Ada was among the searchers. As he lurked among the trees, he noticed it: the arrow was stuck in the bark, high up. The kid probably climbed up the tree and put the arrow there. Ada walked over, standing on his hind legs while using the branches to reach for the arrow... It was just out of his reach...
Suddenly he felt a warmness spreading through his body again. “Hm. Strange...” he mumbled, and just like that he grabbed the arrow.
He blinked a few times as he went back on four. Did he really managed to reach that high?
“Woah! Ada! You grew!”
“I did?” asked the dragon in a confused tone. But once he stood next to a kid, it became obvious – he surely became bigger! And not just taller, his overall frame grew. Judging by the size difference, now he is just as big as the other hunters. Around 5 duut, or 5 feet tall.
“Praise the gods! I’m bigger!” he jumped in the air joyfully. He then turned back and ran right into Sukotto’s hut.
“Shaman! Look at me! I’m finally big! Your magic worked!” He stretched up, and smirked as he finally was eye to eye to him.
“Finally you can be a decent hunter!”
“I already am!” smiled Ada.
The night came, and Ada went back to his hut excited. Tomorrow he can join the hunters, and not just as a chaser, but as one who can catch the pray! He closed his eyes, and dreamed about sweet dreams.
However, a few hours later, he woke up because of some noise, and a loud thud. Ada blinked a few times, before he realised what just happened. The bed, which was previously quite big for him, broke under his weight.
It seemed that during the night he grew again – this time to a whole 7 feet tall. He was as big as the chef of the village!
“Better wake up the shaman and talk to him...” he crawled out of his hut, and headed to Sukotto. He gently knocked on his door.
As he was standing in Sukotto’s hut, thinking about all the praises he will get from the others in the morning, he felt the warmness in his stomach again. He put two and two together, and finally realized what it means.
“Ooooh! Here comes another one!” Ada wagged his tail, as he started to grow one more tim
e.
Ada gasped. “I... Am... The biggest of all?!” Then he jumped up, only to hit the ceiling. “Auch. I am the biggest of all!” He laughed of joy, his voice also seemed to deepen a bit.
With saying goodnight, he crawl out of the hut, although he really had to squeeze himself through the certainly small door.
Just around sunrise, the village wake up to a cracking and growling sound. More and more heads popped out, searching for the source, which turned out to be coming from... Ada's hut?
"What in the name of the gods?" said Ria, the only female member of the hunters. She, as well as the others, stared with wide open eyes at the scene.
The walls of the hut curled outwards, and was shaking constantly.
“Auch,” said the now giant Ada as he stood up, shaking down the remains of his home like it was made of bamboo. “That hurt a bit!”
Everyone gasped as they looked up at the mighty dragon. Ada, the once small hunter dragon, the pipsqueak, now stood there with an astonishing height of 15 feet – five times as big as his original size, and two times higher than the previous record holder of the village.
He waved with his big hands, greeting his fellow dragons. He clearly enjoyed the situation. “Hi there! Is something on my face?”
All the hunters cheered, except for Tyr and Ria. They frowned and exchanged looks. “How... He does not deserve to be this big!” Ria whispered, and the other dragon nodded.
But the others were just as happy as Ada after they relieved from the shock. An hour later Ada went on a hunt with the rest of his team, and finally he felt like he truly belongs. He even chased and caught a direwolf, one of the biggest animals in the forest! Although he had to lean down from time to time to avoid the canopies, his size and speed was clearly superior comparing to the others. The village chief praised the gods for this blessing on their dear Ada, who was completely touched.
It was simply the best day of his life, a dream coming true!
“Weee!” screamed the kids in joy. Ada was also happy, bringing so much fun to them. One of the kids poked his arm. “Ada? Can you... Make the slide bigger?”
“I don’t know. Can I?” asked Ada, and he thought how much the kids would be happier if he grew bigger. And right then he felt the familiar warmness in his stomach. “Quick! Everyone climb onto my back! This is so exciting!”
“I hereby rename the Weee game to Wuu-Huu!” laughed Ada with a deeper voice. The kids screamed in joy, sliding down on the biggest slide of their life.
“Uh... Sorry?” said the giant dragon with an innocent voice. “I’m just not used to my bigger body! Yet!”
Is he still growing? If yes, how much...? If he grows any bigger, could it endanger the village and the villagers? Many whispered these questions.
Later the Chief himself visited Sukotto. “Shaman, you are wise in the forces of nature. Can you provide us some answers to these questions?”
“I can’t believe him...” whispered Ria to Tyr. The male nodded. “Like an elephant! Look at him! He devours all of our stock! He can hunt, yes, but he costs too much for the village!”
Ada, due to his larger size, had larger sense of hearing as well. He heard every word, and it hurt him. He gulped, then put down the half chewed sheep, and said good night to everyone. As he approached his hut, he realised he destroyed that earlier. With a sigh, he curled up on top of the remains, and closed his eyes.
Maybe tomorrow will bring something new, something better.
“So... You did this to him, eh, shaman?” he smirked, and silently sneaked back, to tell Ria his news.
An hour later, the sleeping Ada took deeper and deeper breaths. Something was disturbing his dreams. His limbs twitched, his tail flicked... And then his entire body rumbled like a volcano before eruption...
His paw smashed into the neighbour’s wall, who ran out screaming, but not even that woke up the big dragon.
“Huh?” He opened his eyes and stood up, just to feel dizziness. Why is everything seems so strange...
Then his final growth spurt to 55 feet gave him the answer.
“Oh my gosh! I’m huge! You’re tiny! I’m huge!” his booming, deep voice woke up everyone in the village. All the dragons came out, only to scream, drop their mouth, or simply faint. Only the kids were cheering in joy. Biiig-biiig slide!
Only the kids enjoyed the situation, and they used Ada’s giant body as practice climbing, while he admires his muscles, tail, wings, paws - even his claws were bigger than some of the prays!
“Look at him! He can’t even hunt!” said Tyr. Ria nodded.
“I can!” replied Ada, and he jumped into the air to look around for something big to hunt. As he landed, everyone fell from the thud, and all the animals fled from the scene, including the birds.
“Ups...” said Ada, curling up smaller. He covered his face with his roof sized wings.
“We have to do something!” yelled Ria. “Who knows how much bigger he grows later? We cannot feed him, and he already caused a lot of destruction!”
She shivered, and licked her lips. Why suddenly she felt... Excited?
“I have decided. I leave our Ada in our shaman’s capable paws. After all, Ada was always helpful, loyal, and true, he does not deserve a harsh judgement. Also, I believe in our Sukotto, his wisdom and knowledge, who can speak to the core forces of nature. I spoke!”
Everyone nodded; the meeting concluded.
Tyr dragged Ria closer.
“It was the shaman’s spell,” he whispered.
“What?” the female asked in surprise.
“I heard him. He cast a growth spell on him. Guess he overshot it.”
“Damn he did! Any bigger and he won’t be able to catch a boar – or not even a bear.”
“Yeah... But... If you think it through... If someone would be much, much BIGGER...”
Ria shook her head. “What are you talking about?”
Tyr smiled. “Think about it! You always wanted to be the biggest hunter ever! If you were as big as Ada, it would be difficult to catch anything. But! If you were even bigger... a single swoosh with your arm, and you catch half the forest! No one can run from you if you catch them up with a single step!”
Ria shivered. Being even bigger than Ada... The biggest hunter... To catch an entire year worth of meat...
“And we can ask the shaman to shrink you back after your Great Hunt!” said Tyr.
“Why are you suggesting me this?”
“Well... I always kinds liked you... And I would like to see you... Bigger.”
Ria smiled, and then he flicked the male’s nose.
“Then you should.”
“Yeah... I think I am too big too. Maybe you can change me back when I was slightly bigger the chief,” said the giant dragon as he leaned closer to the shaman. “So, what shall I do?”
Meanwhile Tyr and Ria sneaked closer to Sukotto.
“We have to wait until he is alone,” said the male. “Then we rush forward, catch him, and force him to cast a stronger spell on you!”
Ria nodded.
“Don’t be too harsh!” added the male. “We need him to shrink you back after all!”
“Still it feels like a hunt...” added the female while he smiled mischievously.
“Ah, this is going to nowhere!” whispered Ria. “Change of strategy.” Then she suddenly stepped forward and waved with her paw. “Yo-ho! Sukotto shaman? Can I have a word with you...” she glanced up at the giant Ada, “...alone?”
Ada let out a sigh. “I will be at the lake, if you need me. Probably catching whales.”
“There are no whales in the lakes, pipsqueak,” replied Tyr, which made the giant dragon growl softly, but loudly.
“Here is the deal,” she said with a gentle, cold smile. “I knew you blew up the pipsqueak with one of your little tricks. And you gonna cast it again, this time on me. And a stronger version, if I may ask. I want to grow huge, so I can catch all the preys little Ada frightened away with ease! It’s for the sake of the village, so you cannot say I’m acting selfish! Then you may shrink me back to my regular size... Ah, maybe leaving me at a bit bigger than my current height.” She winked. “And this will be our little secret, right? Let’s just say I was blessed by the gods too... And no funny business! If you try to con me and turn me into an ant or something, Tyr will make sure you won’t be able to shrink poor Ada back with broken hands.”
Meanwhile Ada reached the lake. He enjoyed the gentle breeze, closed his eyes, and remembered the days when he was small. He hated being bullied by his size... He opened his eyes, and smiled as he examined himself. Being big feels good, no matter what the others say. As tall as a tree, with strong legs, he finally felt confident.
He didn’t regret his decision.
“Still need to get something for dinner for the tribe,” he thought. “Then everyone forgive me, and will be happy again to see the mighty me!”
He slowly descended into the water, giggling as realizing how much more he had to go deeper into the lake to submerge.
After a few minutes, he found something that would help him. “Alright. I got it!”
Tyr, showing some nervousness, took a step back.
When Ada finally climbed into the water completely, he spread out his wings and used them as fins to swim around. He awed how much faster he could swim, which each flap he swam multiple feet of distance. Fishes dodged the mighty dragon, but they were not fast enough, and some of them hit him in the eye.
“Auch,” said the dragon, rubbing his head. Then he followed the fishes, and grabbed a few easily.
“Hey! At this size it’s quite easy to catch them! A few of these, and everyone will welcome me again with cheers!”
He wondered whenever Sukotto can enlarge meat too, when he suddenly felt a familiar warmness around his stomach.
“Oh, no-no-no-no-no! Not again!” He tensed his muscles, trying to suppress the upcoming growth...
A strange warmness engulfed her, she felt her skin vibrating... Then it stopped suddenly.
She looked at herself. She didn’t grow, not an inch.
“That’s it?!” she snorted with visible anger.
Ada felt like trying to hold back a broken dam with his back. No matter where he put his imaginary limbs, water – or in this case, the power of growth – found a way through the cracks. The 55 feet tall dragon, who already fit into the definition of giant, gained a few more feet in height, then a few more. The water dwellers fled from the increasing mass. Limbs stretched, tail curled and swelled, wings cast bigger shadows... 60 feet became 65, only to turn into 70...
“Come on, stop, stop, STOP!” he said, causing bubbles escape from his mouth.
As Ada surged higher, he felt his legs touching the lake bed.
“Oh my... Am I already growing out the lake?!” he thought, looking up, seeing the surface coming closer to his head.
Up above, two dragons were fishing with a rod, when suddenly one of them poked the other.
“What?” asked the second one, and the first pointed at the surface in the distance, where the water bubbled and emerged, curling upwards. Something big was about to break through...
“Aaaah... Hey there!” said Ada, trying his best smile. At least his growth stopped for now. “Look, I helped you guys catching some fish!” He showed up his paw, but there was nothing. They probably escaped during the growth. “Ah, darn... Now they never gonna love me again...” the gigantic dragon climbed ashore, surprised by the fact that now he was way beyond the tree lines. With thudding steps, he headed back to the village.
The two fisher dragons remained completely speechless for minutes.
“What should we do now?” asked Tyr.
Ria shrugged. “We wait, I guess... Maybe keep an eye on that giant clumsiness of Ada. Besides, I want to see his face when he finally meets a REAL hunter!” she smirked. “Where did she go?”
“I think he headed toward the lake.”
Ria nodded. They walked into that direction. As they approached the shores, she suddenly felt a strange feeling around her stomach. She felt all of a sudden... Thirsty. She licked her lips.
The water was calling her.
Meanwhile Ria and Tyyr reached the lake. The female practically took the last steps by running, and she quickly dipped her about into the water, gulping heavily.
“Gee, you didn’t say you were this thirsty!” said Rya, shaking his head. Then his eyes opened widely as he saw the female shivering, like she was cold... And then suddenly Rya started to grow bigger.
Ria felt the power rushing into her veins, and she enjoyed every minute of it. She knew that the water granted her wish, and with each gulp her frame shivered and ballooned bigger. Her paws dug deeper into the sand, her tail almost hit the surprised Tyr, and she felt sinking a bit deeper. Her original height of 6 feet quickly reached 10, and she knew this was only the beginning.
She stepped closer, deeper into the water, and drank as fast as she could.
His growth stopped. Moreover, although he was still shivering, it was on a smaller scale – and he finally started to shrink.
“Huh!” said the huge dragon with a relief. The nearby trees looked relieved as well as they slowly stretched straight again. “You frightened me for a minute!” He dwindled back to 100 feet tall, then 90, then 80. Ada smiled, watching the canopies once again towering above his head.
Not far from there some was going the opposite direction: up. Ria reached 15 feet in no time, she was growing faster than Ada ever.
“That’s enough for a start,” said Tyr with a worrying tone. Ria pulled out her head but only for a brief moment to answer. “Far from it! Need to grow bigger!”
And her wish was fulfilled with every additional bucket of water entering her stomach. She swelled up to 18 feet...20... 25... Bigger, longer, wider...
At 25 feet he suddenly stopped. It seemed his body rejected to shrink anymore.
The 30 feet tall Ria climbed into the lake until she completely submerged. Tyr blinked, watching the shadow in the deep stretching wider and wider... He gulped, wondering how big his friend will grow. That spell must be really powerful if she already grew many of Ada’s spurts in mere minutes...
The two previous fishing dragons went back to their work, when suddenly the water stirred not far from them.
“What? Again?” asked the second one. The surface bent, just like before... And a second later, a humongous head broke through it. It happened so fast that the wave pushed the fisher dragons back, they rolled onto their sides. When they looked up, they were staring at a 100 feet tall dragoness, who, despite stopped drinking, was still growing bigger and bigger. Her head climbed out of the water, then her widening neck, then the shoulders, wings and back emerged...
“This feels so refreshing!” chuckled the 150 feet tall Ria. Tyr opened his mouth widely. He couldn’t believe how big she had grown already. And her vast frame was still on the rise!
The fishing dragons finally gave up and fled back to the village.
Riu stretched higher, reaching 170 feet, then 185, until finally, at 200 feet, her growth spurts halted. The water only covered the lower parts of her legs. She let out a sigh, then smirked. The massive dragoness turned around, and looked at the minuscule Tyr standing on the shore. “Now THAT is a start!” Her deep voice resonated the air around. With careful movements she climbed out of the lake. The massive body of the water followed her movements, feet tall waves rocked back and forth all over the surface. She giggled as she placed her giant paw next to Tyr, comparing her toes to his size.
Tyr gulped, staring at the massive paw that could easily stomp him. He suddenly knew how preys probably felt during hunting.
“So, what do you say?” asked the dragoness. “Shall we find our little Ada?”
“Huh?” asked Ada, dumbfounded. “What kind of earthquake it is...”
Then he heard trees bending, twisting and snapping in half, together with a thudding, stomping noise.
“It sounds like a...”
And suddenly the giantess stepped in front of them, towering so high that her shadow engulfed them entirely.
“...giant.”
“Ria... What in the name of gods are you doing?” asked Ada with full of surprise. He thought his previous size was beyond good, and here she stood, twice as big!
“Simple. I will do what you were never able to. Hunt.”
She then suddenly leaned down to grab a deer with her vast fingers, but it jumped and ran away from the giantess.
“Darn... I need to grow even bigger so it seems.”
“Even... Bigger?!” Ada couldn’t believe his eyes and ears.
“You are out of your mind!” replied Ada. “Look, I know being big is uplifting, and the growth is euphoric... But this is madness!”
The giant dragoness snorted, engulfing them in a puff of smoke. “You know nothing about bigness, PIPSQUEAK!”
She abruptly stopped when a strange feeling rushed through her body. She blinked in confusion.
“Ria?” asked Tyr on he shoulder. “Are you alright?”
“I...” the giants tried to speak, but the flowing energies couldn’t let her. She knew something was about to change...
And then to everyone’s surprise she started to grow. From 200 feet she swelled to 210 feet, then 220, 230... Her tail sneaked around Ada and Sukotto more, her paws swelled and left a bigger print in the ground, her head shivered and then crawled even closer to the other two.
“Uuuuhm... Sukotto...?” whispered Ada, petrified from the sight.
Ria’s growth indeed slowed down. The massive giantess’s face showed a bit of disappointment, and she looked at the morsels beneath her – only to notice a slight dim lighting around Sukotto, like a blueish aura. She wanted to ask what it is, but as she opened her mouth, the aura elongated, right toward her cave of teeth and tongue – she shivered and gained another 10 feet of height.
“Interesting...” thought the giantess. She suspected it was Sukotto’s magic, and only she was able to see the blue aura. And she also had another suspicion...
She took a deep breath, slowly sucking in the air, and with it the dim light. As more of the magic flew into her, the vast body trembled again, and her growth renewed...
“That will do... For a start,” and with massive steps she left the other two there. She was heading toward the village, to introduce their new greatest hunter...
“She will cause a lot of damage if we don’t do something!” he said to Sukotto.
The dragons of the village stared at the giantess approach. They gathered before the community huts where the chief was waiting.
“Ria! What on earth are you doing?! How did you grow so big?!”
“Let that be my concern,” smirked the giantess as she placed a paw next to the locals. She probably could grab the entire village! “From now on, there will be only one hunter. Me!”
“Are you nuts?! Look what happened to Ada! And he is much smaller! You just destroy everything!” the chief said with anger. “If you don’t shrink back right now, I banish you from the village!”
“Banish me?!” Growled the gigantic Ria, and he stomped on one of the empty huts. The wood and straw vanished completely under her huge sole. As she lifted her leg up, there was nothing, except a 5 feet deep, paw print shaped crater.
“Grow me back,” said Ada to Sukotto. “By the sound of it she already destroyed something in the village. It’s only a matter of time before she starts a rampage if someone offends her! Maybe someone equally big can hold her down until you figure out a solution, and I am the only one with a head start in size!”
Ria was clearly upset. “You dare to banish me?! I am the biggest hunter ever! I can catch anything! There is no prey that would not fit between my fingers! You all shall worship me!” With that, she stomped another hut into splinters. Many dragons ran away in panic, some drew their weapons – not that they worth anything against a living hill.
“Alright, alright...” The chief help up his hand. “Calm down, Ria! Don’t make it worse!”
“I’m not making it worse, I make everything better! Look!” She leaned forward and reached out with her hand. There was a wolf nearby which she wanted to catch, but the animal slipped through her vast fingers. “Darn! Not again!” She straightened up again, sending smoke clouds through her nostrils. “I am clearly not big enough! Tell you this, boss: I leave now, and won’t come back until I bring you an entire year worth of meat. In my palms!” She laughed, then she turned around and headed toward north. "And then you all treat me as your goddess..." She didn’t look where she stepped, and stomped another hut, and then the trees, leaving a trace of destruction behind.
“She’s gonna destroy the forest, right, chief?” asked one of the dragons.
“I’m afraid she will do more than that. The spirits help us all."
The strange magic engulfed him once again. This time it felt familiar yet different. He didn't just feel the warmness, but also a sparking, twitching sense as well.
It went away just as quick as it came.
"Is it... done?" he asked Sukotto.
Meanwile, on a highway miles away from the dragons' village, an anthro panther was driving her car. It was a pretty boring trip between the cities, mostly because she took this road every day. But today, something felt different... The car slipped from time to time, as it lost contact with the asphalt somehow. She didn't understand first, but then a few minutes later the panther started to feel the tremors herself...
“Earthquake?” asked the panther. She tried to keep the car on the road, but it became more difficult with each increasing tremor. She wasn’t the only one, every vehicle on the highway had trouble going in a straight line. They drifted back and forth, one of the vans tipped over to its side, many people hit the breaks, including the panther herself.
And then the panther saw it. Right behind the hill on her right appears the biggest creature she ever saw. It was an utterly gigantic dragoness, as high as a skyscraper, as long and wide as a football field... Her steps caused the earthquakes, each paw smashed into the earth and turned anything into dust, leaving nothing but a deep crater behind. Her tail accidentally hit the side of the hill, sending house size chunks flying dozens of feet away.
The giantess stopped right next to the highway, and looked down with curiosity glowing in her huge eyes. The panther shivered, and couldn’t move a muscle out of shock.
And all of a sudden a tingling sensation ran through him, and the dragon blew up to 30 feet.
“What the heck is this?” he asked, and grabbed the thing. As his fingers curled around the slimey skin, another tingling spread through his body, and he gained an extra 5 feet again. He pulled it over the surface. It was an electric eel, or sparky eel as Ada’s tribe knew it.
“This? This will make me grow?” Ada shook his head in disappointment. The eel finally managed to escape due to its slippery skin, giving a last shock to his captor, which resulted only a tiny growth of 2 feet.
The hunter dragon sighed. “That’s nothing! And we cannot sit here figuring out my true trigger! We have to go after Ria. Maybe we get lucky and find a better trigger on the way!” He grabbed Sukotto and placed him on his back, then galloped, following the tracks of the giantess.
Meanwhile, the gigantic dragoness leaned down and picked up a car, which happened to be the panther’s. Holding between her fingers, she brought it closer to her eye. The tiny driver was screaming, looking right into the pupils, which were just as big as her vehicle.
“Strange box,” said Ria to Tyr. “Look, there’s a person in there! I don’t think it is considered a prey. Do you think I should squeeze it, like a grape?”
The panther luckily couldn’t understand a word, since Ria spoke a different language. Otherwise she would have fainted right there. She still shivered by the sheer power of the giant dragon’s deep voice.
“I-I think you should put her down,” said Tyr. He loved Ria, especially since she became a living giant, but he didn’t want her hurting anyone. And this... Person was clearly a person, of some kind of strange tribe.
Ria examined the car for a minute, then she placed it down. “I guess you’re right.” Then she laid down, and sniffed the asphalt, causing the nearby cars rolling closer to her snout. “Strange... What kind of material is this? Seems like stone, but smells funny...” she stood up, and looked both ways of the highway. “I suspect this leads to their tribe. I want to check out their village. Maybe they have some strange, exotic beasts to hunt down!” With massive, earth quaking stomps, the highway between her legs, she marched forward, following the highway.
Toward the nearest, big city.
Then nothing happened for minutes, besides the rain and the dark cloud formation moving around. They started to disappear, one by one...
Until, with one final attempt, a lightning hit the ground just in front of Ada’s paw.
It didn’t hit him directly... Yet a fraction of the massive voltage jumped into his skin. It was much stronger than the eel, Ada felt it immediately. His entire frame tingled...
The sirens of the city turned on, warning the habitats of the upcoming danger. Police officers and military warned the citizens across the street, which at first sounded as a joke. A giant dragon approaching the city?
But those who lived at the edge experienced the event from close. The suburban area already suffered from serious damage as the giantess marched through the houses, not realising they were “huts”. She examined everything, sniffed, poked and touched, but eventually she stomped on everything she didn’t like.
And she didn’t like what she didn’t understand.
Then the sky cleared, and everything became quiet again.
“Ugh... I feel dizzy,” he mumbled. Not just the electricity, but the sudden change of perspective made the huge dragon disoriented. “Sukotto? Are you okay?”
Otherwise they will most likely be screwed.
“Seriously, I feel small!” she noted to Tyr with a chuckle.
She also enjoyed the fuss around her. This tribe had like a gazillion member, most of them fled from her in tiny moving magic boxes, just like she saw before on the roads. But some of them were gathering at her feet, shooting at her with strange bows, and yelling in an unrecognisable language. But for the mighty Ria, their stings felt smaller than the bees’. She shook her head, and lifted her front leg, enjoying the tickling feeling as she stomped the magic moving boxes to plates. The people jumped out and avoided the giant toes by a millisecond.
“Who knew there are such peculiar tribes out there!” she said. “But I guess I stay for a while. This place seems worth to conquer!”
As she stomped toward the center to see the taller huts from close, she felt something inviting from there.
Deep below a pyramid shaped building, untouched and undiscovered by this tribe, the giant dragoness felt an ancient pool of magic. It was calling her...
“Have you ever seen anything like this before?” he asked as he carefully walked toward to center. Unlike Ria he watched his steps to minimize the destruction, so he used mostly the dragoness’s paw prints. “Seriously, even Ria can be lost in this hut-jungle!”
He saw the tinies approaching. He tried to explain them that he came in piece, but they attacked him, or at least they tried. They had moving boxes, but also some mechanical flies as well, buzzing around his nose.
“Can’t blame them. They probably think I’m a god. And if they already met Ria, they think both of us descended for conquering.” The giant dragon shook his head, then carefully stepped over the tanks. As he continued his path, he saw a vast shadow in the distance. “Hey, I think I found her!”
Dragons were common, just as any other type of anthros, but they saw nothing like this before, at least in size. They quickly realized that the creature was hostile, and their military and police forces quikly acted, helping evacuating the city and preparing counterattacks.
But so far nothing, not even the biggest guns seemed to scratch her vast skin. She marched through tanks and barricades like a pile of sand, her body crumbled buildings on touch, her paws sank deep into the concrete. And worse of all, another dragon was approaching. Although this seemed a it smaller and somehow less dangerous, they could not afford to handle him any friendlier than his female companion.
"RIA!" yelled Ada from the end of a street. The dragoness turned around (knocking down a tower building with her tail accidentally), and smiled mischievously.
“Don’t you?” asked Ada nervously. He still didn’t have a decent plan to stop the giantess.
“Are you kidding me? Look around! This tribe alone can feed me for weeks!”
“I won’t let you attack a newly found tribe! They can easily turn out to be friendly!”
“Really? Are you serious?" frowned Ria with a tilted head as she flicked a machine gun equipped aircraft. The pilot catapulted in the last second.
“We have to do something!” said Ada to Sukotto. Without having a better idea, he jumped forward, and grabbed Ria’s massive, road thick tail. With all of his strength he started to pull, hoping he can stop the giantess at least from some stomping.
“Ah, Pipsqueak... You are so cute...” said Ria, then suddenly her body trembled. The windows shattered, cracks ran through the walls from the sudden earthquake. She felt an uprising power within her, and three words echoed in her mind:
Pull... Stretch... Grooooow...
All that before Ria was even started her growth.
Pull... Stretch... Grow...
The spell awakened inside her – she finally found another trigger. It was not just water or magic absorption.
Pull... Stretch... Grow...
Ada turned around, holding the end of the tail like a sand bag, standing on his hind legs, and slowly walked in the other direction, not realising the consequences of his action. He actually thought that he managed to pull the dragoness back – in reality, with every step Ria’s tail went with Ada, but the front of her body remained in place... but it occupied more space.
An entire nation watched through the broadcast as the bigger dragon started to ascend further in size. She was already as huge as the fictional monsters in the movies, and she tended to overdo them all. 350 feet of height surged to 370 feet, then 400 feet, 450 feet... Her legs smashed and demolished the buildings, the paws ploughed up not just the roads but the roadside shops and vehicles as well, her hips knocked apartments over like dominoes. And Ada still haven’t notice he was the cause of it – he was so focused his brain didn’t even register the tail thickening between his arms with each step.
Pull... Stretch... Grow...
“What the...” gulped Ada, watching the tail marching further with the speed of a prey. He turned his head back with a racing heart, fearing what he will see...
A 700 feet tall dragoness stared back at him, laughing with a much deeper voice.
“Oh, Pipsqueak! You should have seen the look on your face!” By now even Ria’s chuckle caused lesser earthquakes too. Her legs opened multiple streets together, and once where stood many proud buildings now lied a pile of junk under her belly.
The citizens could not believe that the dragoness that previously was as big as a football field now became an entire stadium in size.
“I hope you learned your lesson, boy!” said Ria, pointing at the doll sized (at least to her) dragon. “You never become a big hunter! Or a hunter, at all!”
“Good saying!” cheered Tyr who climbed into Ria’s ear by the time.
“Thanks, dear. And now, before you get any more ideas...” with only two steps she stood before Ada. Her shadow covered the entire dragon, and two other streets as well.
Before Ada could react, Ria picked up the dragon one third of her size, turned around herself and threw him into the other district of the city like a hammer throwing Olympic champion. Ada flew a thousand feet before he crushed into a series on buildings, demolishing almost as much as Ria with her latest growth spurt.
The dragoness laughed, the sight really pleased her. Then she turned around, paying attention again to the mystical underground temple.
What she didn’t know that she tossed Ada into the worst – or best – place imaginable.
Right next to the City Power Plant And Electricity Distribution Center.
“This is a disaster!” he said with a pale face, watching Ria marching through entire city blocks.
As he stood there, figuring out their next move, a buzzing noise filled the air. Ada looked behind him, and noticed a series of strange, metallic trees – coils – stretching through dozens of yards, all of them humming louder and louder. And not just that, they started to glow in a strange, blueish hue. The dragon’s curiosity won, and he carefully stepped closer to take a closer inspection on the strange contraption.
Inside the power plant the panic was complete. The controls were broken, pipes leaked, walls collapsed. Since the arrive of the dragoness they managed to keep the energy situation under control, giving the extra help people needed during the evacuation. But the plant and its crew did not prepared for the earthquake cased by the impact of a 200 feet tall creature.
And now the still working monitors became haywire. They showed an abnormally high energy peak flowing through the system in a very strange, and truly unbelievable way. Judging by the numbers it seemed that rather the plant giving energy to the city, it was absorbing it back into the coils...
Thus, luckily, no tank or airplane was around Ada...
“It’s so... Mesmerising...” Whispered Ada as he leaned even closer to the humming coils. His snot, which was the closest, started to glow with a blue aura as well. Lighting arched between the coils, sparks flew all over the place... Until one giant lightning bolt hit the dragon, and then another, and another. The dragon’s body illuminated, for a brief moment his skeleton became visible. Ada roared, but more in a surprise than pain. The way too familiar feeling filled his cells. The imaginary dam exploded, the energies boiled his blood – and with that the giant dragon started to grow with unprecedented speed.
His 200 feet tall body rushed to 300 in no time, his enlarging paws swiped the debris further like a massive broom. With a blink of an eye he already arrived at 400 feet, double the size he was just a few moments ago. His cracking bones and stretching skin were almost as loud as the coils’ hum, but not as loud as the tremors and earthquakes following the shivering, increasing mass.
Ada couldn’t speak even if he wanted to. The huge waves of energies tensed a his muscles. The power plant shrank under his belly as he ascended further into the skies. 600 feet, and he already caught up with Ria. 800 feet, and he became taller than most of the skyscrapers in the city. 1000 feet, a landing airplane had to modify its course to avoid colliding with the giant’s vast neck. And the growth continued much to the world’s astonishment. No science was able to explain how the gigantic dragon was able to grow bigger... And bigger... And bigger...
“How can something so tall yet so weak,” said the giantess as another building collapsed by only a gentle touch. “How am I supposed to bring one of these home if they break so easily?!”
“Uhm, dig them up?” suggested Tyr in her ear.
She had no choice but to grow bigger. Or at least that’s what she repeated to herself. The truth was she enjoyed the growth and the superior size waaay too much. Also she found her previous village and tribe less and less significant...
A few minutes later she arrived at the library. Beneath the building she felt the magical energies sizzling and flowing, ready to be freed.
Layer by layer the dragoness tore the building apart, her claws cut through the bricks like paper.
The leaders of the city, suspecting what might happen soon, ordered a full retreat. Wise people.
The people watching the broadcast couldn’t understand what she was doing, until she hit into a giant, perfect cube shape rock. Ria’s heart heated faster, throwing the cube rocks behind, some of them smashed into the so far fortuned buildings.
In just a few seconds she get rid of the roof of the ancient temple. The underground pyramid shaped building opened up its belly when Ria removed one more stone. Golden, unnatural light shined the surroundings, long forgotten magic items welcomed the surface again...
Only to be smashed be a giant dragon’s paw. Ria stepped into the hole of light, and focused on the sucking feeling, just like she did when she stole magic from Sukotto. The light swirled, then engulfed her paw, then her entire body. She shivered heavily...
“Brace yourself, Tyr. We are going to join the gods.”
Only the sound of destruction and her moanes echoed through the landscape forshadowed that her growth was speeding up - and up, and up...
“Ten times...” whispered Ada, and he surprised the power of his own voice, which now could blow the airplanes back. He also sounded very deep, like a mountain troll. “I grew 10 times as big from this thing!”
He carefully tried his limbs. His claws alone stretched more than 50 feet, the toes were closer to 100 feet long, and his paws rested on different city blocks. He also sank into the ground like yards deep, pressing the earth into harder materials under his humongous weight.
Only the world’s tallest skyscraper could be a match in height, but that was at the other end of the world. Here, he absolutely dominated the landscape.
Expect there was the mystical sandstorm covering the city centre, stretching so high that it merged into the clouds.
“What the heck is that?!” He asked the shaman. Before he got an answer, he quickly moved toward the center of it. He had a feeling Ria was inside the middle, and he was afraid how much of a bigger dragoness will they find.
Some choppers flew around his eyes but he barely see them. They still provided video footage of the situation, which made the entire world nervous.
The leaders of the world discussed the situation, consulted with scientists and professors, but none of them could explain the impossible growth of these two mountainous creatures. These gods already levelled the center of a city, and the nations have to protect themselves.
They all agreed that in the end they might have to arm their biggest weapons, before the giants start to destroy the countries.
That is, until he jumped into something. Ada frowned, it couldn’t be a “hut”, since no matter how tall they were they shattered easily. But this... This material was hard.
When a deafening laugh filled the air and stirred the storm, cleaning it up a bit, only then realised what Ada was looking at.
It was a paw. An utterly gigantic, super massive, super thick scaled paw belonging to a female dragon. It was twice as big as Ada’s entire frame, rested on the entire city center, the toe claws curled above the district, the heel was more than half a mile further back. As it ascended into the heavens, house sized debris fell back from the soles, and Ada’s entire village could fit in the print left behind, both vertically and horizontally.
“By the spirits...” gulped Ada, and the second biggest creature of the planet felt very, very small.
“OH, PIPSQUEAK!” The 5 miles tall Ria’s voice sounded godlike. Good thing her head was far above the clouds, otherwise Ada would have deafened by its volume. “YOU CANNOT IMAGINE HOW IT FEELS! I SHOULD BE THANKFUL TO YOU AND TO THAT MORSEL SHAMAN...” She curled her toes, squeezing poor Ada’s skin more. “AS A REWARD I PLAY WITH YOU FOR A LITTLE LONGER BEFORE I SQUISH YOU INTO NOTHING. HOW DOES IT FEEL, BEING THE TINY PREY? OR IT DOES NOT DIFFER FROM ANY OF YOUR PREVIOUS DAYS, FITTING UNDER MY PAW...”
As the gargantuan dragoness was paying attention to Ada, the sandstorm stopped, and the dust fell, covering the remains of the city like a golden coloured snow.
“Sukotto...” moaned Ada, fighting with the pressure. “If you have any ideas... Now’s the time... I hold her in one place... Sort of...”
“LET ME SEE YOU FROM UP CLOSE.”
Ada gulped. It will be a long wait. He just hoped Sukotto quickly put together a solution.
A few hundred feet away from the massive female toe stood a child alone, looking up in awe. Her name was Liz, a 3 year old girl, who also happened to be a dragon. She left behind accidentally during the evacuation, and she walked closer to the giants. It reminded her to her favourite cartoons her family used to watch with her, where the hero grows big to save the day. She was curious, and due to her age didn’t realise the danger she was in. If Ria places her paw just a tiny bit to the side...
As Liz looked up, drooling at the sight of the seemingly never-ending sister-in-species, she noticed a movement from the corner of her eye. It was a person climbing down from the lesser giant. Her attention quickly changed, as it happens so often with younglings of her age, and she quickly followed the person.
“SORRY, PIPSQUEAK, CAN’T HEAR YOU! WHAT WAS THAT?”
“Just look around... You destroys everything! You cannot see the preys anymore, yet alone these people!”
“MUST HAVE BEEN THE WIND. THERE ARE SOME STRONG BREEZES UP HERE.”
Liz followed the strange person toward the hole. Who is this mister? Does he want to play with the big boy and girl too? He came from the shoulder of one of them, so he might knows the way back. And then she can ride on the back of the giants! Liz almost clapped with her paws in joy, but then she remembered they told her it's rude. She didn’t want to disturb the mister. She is a well behaved kid (well, most of the time), who wants to make her parents proud!
He laughed nervously on Ria’s words. “He-he... Nice jokes, Ria... Can you... Can you put me down? Okay, you want me to say it? You are the greatest! The one true hunter, who can catch anything! The biggest dragon who ever lived!”
Ria smirked so widely Ada thought for a moment she wants to swallow him.
“DAMN RIGHT, PIPSQUEAK! I’M GLAD YOU CAME TO YOUR SENSES.”
Liz was a little above Sukotto’s head. She lost sight for a moment a few minutes ago, so she didn’t know where the shaman managed to climb lower. She had to use her hearing to locate him again, but she ended up in a different place.
As she looked down, she noticed she was right above the cauldron. “Is mister cooking a soup? What kind of? Like the one mommy does?” As she leaned closer, her leg accidentally kicked a vial, which tilted over, and its content poured right into the cauldron with a small splash. The liquid in the cauldron changed its colour, but only for a moment.
“Ups...” said Liz, hoping the mister didn’t notice her clumsiness. She looked at the empty vial, wondering what it could be. “Hope it’s not garlic” she thought. There was a picture on it, but she couldn’t interpret it. On the picture was the stylistic face of a surprised man with a question mark above its head. “Phew! Definitely not garlic.”
As Liz was watching Sukotto cooking the “soup”, the earth started to quake again from Ria’s massive stomps. Plaster fell from the ceiling, dust flew everywhere, and with the next tremor she lost her balance. The little dragon girl yelped as she fell over...
...right into the cauldron.
She dug out her head and spit some of the liquid out after she accidentally gulped down a decent amount. She looked up at the very much surprised Sukotto. “Uhm... Hi mister...? You need more salt into your soup...” She knew she was in trouble, so did what she usually does in these situations at home: put on her most innocent face.
“ANNOYING LITTLE BUGS. I WISH I COULD STOMP THEN TO NOTHING WITH A SINGLE MOVEMENT. WHAT DO YOU THINK, PIPSQUEAK? SHOULD I GROW BIGGER?”
Ada felt dizzy hearing her words. Bigger?! How much bigger does she want to be...?!
Liz let the mister grab her by the armpits and lift her out of the cauldron. She giggled as it tickled, and she also found the mister’s unrecognisable words funny. “You speak silly!” she laughed.
Then they heard the explosion coming from up above. They were the missiles hitting Ria’s skin – with no effort, as even the smallest scales stretched over 50 feet in diameter.
Liz yelped again in surprise, and with that, she felt something strange. Like when she suddenly sits up – although this time she did not do such a movement. Little did she know that her accident with the shrink potion changed the effect drastically, turning her into a grower too; and that her previous height of 2 feet now was closer to 3.
“Ria has multiple triggers too... Maybe these bee stings are my second kind?” He wondered. Maybe somehow he can turn this to his advantage... He wished Sukotto was here to give some ideas.
The noises coming from the surface distracted Sukotto and Liz down underground. The slightly bigger dragon girl listened to the noises and the tremors, then something shiny caught her attention back in another segment of the dark room. She left Sukotto there, wandered around, and disappeared behind a door.
With that the magic of the potion brought alive again, blowing her bigger, to 5 feet. She stood up and rubbed her side to ease the pain. As she looked around she noticed the room changed... Somehow. She didn’t realize it was her who changed.
Now being as high as an adult she could easily grabbed the bird statue. But as she placed her hand on the side of the shelf, the thousand year old furniture snapped, and leaned forward. Dozens of items landed on her, not to mention the heavy wooden shelf as well. Liz yelped once again, she covered her head... And the magic reactivated again. This time with a single spurt Liz doubled her size to 10 feet, making her almost as tall as the room. She didn't hurt, and tossed the remains to the side with ease. She sat down, thinking about how strange this room looked like now.
As she wondered how her new friend seemed so small, the magic came to life once again. Her body trembled, and with the next moment blew up with immense speed. She quickly grew to 15 feet, then 20 – when she hit her head into the ceiling.
“Auch!” yelled the giant kid, and seemingly out of nothing her growth skyrocketed. She instantly doubled her size to 40 feet, technically exploding out of the room. Her leg smashed through the walls, her tail broke the opposite one, and her head was already banged into the next level...
Luckily Liz grabbed a doll as she grew out the place, which happened to be Sukotto himself. Otherwise he certainly would have been flattened by a giant and swelling rump. 100 feet was nothing a few seconds later, and Liz already crawled closer to 200. Her head appeared at the surface, like a swimmer emerging from underwater. She was still sitting, now in what only looked like a small hole in the ground. Her legs and tail dug new tunnels, and her wings already swiped the debris Ria previously caused. She looked up, and surprised that the still gigantic dragoness’s paw looked more like a hill than a mountain as before... And Liz more than doubled her size again, reaching 500 feet in no time.
What she could NOT ignore was the gentle squeeze at her feet. As she looked down, she almost dropped Ada in her surprise.
Down below was a small child. Well, small was totally relative in this situation, becaue the kid was around 1000 feet in hight. Barely bigger than her toes, but a respectable size nonetheless.
The kid, who seemed like a young girl of the local tribe, poked her toes with her claw.
"Big!" she giggled. "And squishy!"
"WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE SPIRITS," said Ria. "WHAT THE TWO OF YOU TROUBLEMAKES DID?!"
Ada couldn't belive his eyes as well. Did Sukotto messed something up again? Why is this girl big? And how did she grew up so fast? And does it mean she can increase her size further just as easily...?
"Sukotto?" he asked, hoping he could sill hear his explanation.
"YOU DID WHAT?!" asked the dragoness in disbelief. "YOU LET A CHILD FALL INTO ONE OF YOUR POTIONS? AND YOU THINK I AM THE ONE WHO LOST HER MIND?!"
Liz looked up. She did not understand what the dragoness said, but she had a feeling she was mad. She stepped away from her in sadness, she didn't want to cause any trouble... And with that she stepped on a warehouse. She shrieked as her leg sunk deep into the ruins, and that triggered another growth spurt. She quickly grew to 1500 feet, which caused her to trample around. Many times she almost lost her balance, and each caused another growth spurt of increasing amount. In just a few seconds she already reached 3000 feet, as big as Ada, who looked down with a puzzled look.
"Oh, spirits... These kids grow like a weed these days!"
One of the broadcasting choppers flew closer to Liz, and they used a megaphone to speak to her.
"Liz! Liz! Were are from Channel 4! Can you tell us what caused your fantastic growth?"
However, Liz didn't expect a fly buzzing near her ear and speak to her. She hiccuped in surprise, and she looked around searching for the source... Unfortunately this triggered another series of powerful spurts. As her body grew, the serum had more and more base magic to work from, which resulted an even more agressive expansion... The child already reached 1 mile in height, causing the chopper to retreat. They almost hit her hips when she doubled her size to 2 miles, and again to 4 miles. Another district of the city was bulldozed into nothing under the humongous paws.
She was very close in size to Ria, the dragoness who thought no one can grow bigger than her.
“STOP IT... STOP... I MEAN IT!” Ria growled in a defensive mode, but the kid didn’t get the message.
“BIG SIS!” she screamed in joy, forgetting about all the previous series on clumsiness. As soon as she reached the bigger dragoness’s size, she gave her a hug. Ria moaned, surprised by the strength of the kid.
Unfortunately, Ria was still under attack, and some of the bombs and missiles now hit Liz... One of the projectiles exploded right in front of her multi hundred feet tall eyeball.
“AAAAUUU! FLASHY BUGS!” she bit her lips as tears ran down on her cheeks, enough to fill a swimming pool in volume. Her upcoming massive tremor shook the entire city, and right there and then the gargantuan Liz TRIPLED her latest size, towering to 12 miles in height. Her paws swallowed up the city, stretching ten thousand feet across, the once tiny toe-claws curled above the skyscrapers (at least those who still stood). She officially became the tallest object of the planet, putting even the biggest mountains in shame.
To the entire planet’s surprise, if that was even possible, she lifted the less than half her size Ria up in the air, as if she was just an oversized doll to the kid. The earth moaned of relief beneath the adult dragoness.
“WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!” yelled Ria with a slight dear in her voice. “SHE DOESN’T KNOW WHAT SHE’S DOING! WE HAVE TO STOP HER GROWTH!”
“Oh, now you are a pro-shrinker?!” asked Ada mockingly. “A minute ago you were threatening the world by growing and destroying!”
“THAT WAS DIFFERENT! I KNOW WHAT I’M DOING!” she fidgeted, trying to escape from her newly grown prison, but the kid’s hug was too strong even for her.
In the office of the leader of the greatest nation gathered the people of the highest rank of the government, as well as military forces. All of them watched the news, satellite images, local reports and prediction charts on many monitors.
The lion president shook his head. “But she is just a child! The other two may be aliens, but she is one of us!”
“Experts say the other two are members of a so far undiscovered southern jungle tribe. But this does not matter. Whatever made them big doesn’t seem to stop or even slow down. If everything goes this direction, the countryside can vanishes in an hour. Our nation will live less than a day. And then comes the entire planet. We have the confirmation of the other leader nations; they see no other solution but to eradicate them form the surface while we still can.”
Silence fell to the room. They watch as every step of the massive child made by just readjusting her feet caused more damage than the previous natural disaster.
“We... Informed the parents as well. They had a difficulty to accept... Understandably... But we convinced them that their sweet little innocent child is no more. There is no other way.”
“Can’t we shrink them?” asked the president with hope. “Is there a super secret military experiment that even I am not informed of?”
“I’m afraid there is no such thing,” replied one of the generals.
On the monitor the mountainous child crouched down, picked up an entire portion of the earth with numerous buildings on it, and started playing with it by poking it with her mile long snout.
The president sighed. “I never dared to think the possibility that I would be the first president to order a nuclear attack on his own country... But... It’s time to push the red button.”
Ada landed with a thud. Luckily his frame was massive enough to survive the multi mile high fall, which to him was more like falling from a tree. A few minutes later Liz finally released Ria as well, who landed on her rump.
The city, once a proud habitat spanning across miles had less and less standing buildings remain.
“ANY IDEAS?” asked the giantess, rubbing her mountain sized rump.
“You can start with an apology.”
“OH, COME ON, PIPSQUEAK! I JUST WANTED TO BE THE BIGGEST HUNTER, WHICH YOU CANNOT BE!”
“Why not...?”
“BECAUSE... BECAUSE...” Ria sniffed and cleaned up a lake sized tear. “BECAUSE I CANNOT BARE ANORHER MALE THROWING INTO MY FACE HOW MUCH BETTER AND BIGGER HUNTER HE IS...!!!”
“Oh.” Said Ada, and he sat down next to Ria’s leg. Despite his own giant size he didn’t reach its top. “I would never do that, you know. I always thought you are the greatest hunter among us.”
Watching a gargantuan kid toying with city with ease snapped some sense into Ria.
“I WAS A JERK, EH?”
“Kinda.”
“SO... WHAT NOW?”
“I have no idea... And if Sukotto doesn’t have either... I dunno... Maybe we should try to outgrow her, to keep her at bay?”
Ria’s eyes widened. She looked down at Ada to figure out whenever he was joking or serious. Did he really just offered what he was against in the first place?
That kid’s gigantification definitely brought a chance, that’s for sure!
“WE DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT HER TRIGGER IS! AND EVEN IF WE KNEW WE CANNOT EXPLAIN TO HER HOW TO AVOID!”
They remained silent for a while.
“...BUT MAYBE IT IS WORTH A TRY.”
"Something is coming," he said, smelling the air. He was able to tell that is was similar to the peculiar tribe's previous flies, which were spitting tiny rocks at them - well, mostly at Ria. He remembered that one time they hit him hard, and that caused him a smaller growth spurt.
This lonely fly carried someting with a greater potential, he could feel it.
"Ria! Can you see that?" he pointed at the approaching thing.
"YEAH? IT'S JUST A FLYING BUG, IGNORE IT AS I DO."
"No... I think that might help me grow bigger! Can you flick it toward me so it hit me?"
"YOU WANT TO BE HIT?" asked the giantess, looking down the smaller dragon with a surprise.
"Yes!"
"WELL... OKAY..." she reached out. Liz didn't notice the approaching 'fly', she was still busy playing with the city, now using it as a sandpit, piling up the debris into a mountain between her legs. She placed a skyscraper on top of it as a flag.
When the fly was close enough, Ria as gentle as she could placed a finger on top of it and with a slight force she pushed it toward Ada.
When it exploded, a blinding flash filled the air, the temperature skyrocketed around the giants, and a gigantic, mile wide fireball engulfed them, or at least part of them. The shockwave blew the remainings of the tormented city, destroying it completely, even the nearby forest burned into coal immediately. The mushroom that formed a second later seemingly reached the heavens. A roaring sound followed the shockwave at a much slower pace, trembling across the empty lands.
"We have a direct hit!" People were cheering in the office. The president leaned back in his chair with a shaking hand. "Now we have to wait until we can reconnect to the cameras for visual confirmation..."
“ADA? ALL YOU ALRIGHT?”
Truth is the lesser dragon was more than alright. At the moment of the detonation the radioactive energies bombed his body, but not in a way that anyone else. Just like before when he leaned closer to the coils, an enormous amount of power rushed into him, except this was tenfold comparing to that. His body billowed, and he let out a roar as he surged to 1 mile in an instant. The next second he doubled his size to 2 miles, then TRIPLED up to 6 miles. Ria had to step further to give more space to him; she looked up in awe to a now towering dragon.
But it was still not the end for Ada’s growth. Despite he already competed with the tallest mountains, and his feet together with the hill sized tail ploughed up the remaining of the city, he still grew bigger, higher than the mushroom the bomb left behind. His muscles tensed, the gargantuan dragon panted heavily, then he let out a deafening roar echoed through the countryside...
And then like the bomb itself, he exploded in growth, and QUADRUPLED just in a second, all the way to an unbelievable height of 24 miles.
Nothing remained under his 4 mile long soles which carved a new Grand Canyon into the earth. The city, a wheat field, a forest, a nearby hill, everything vanished and bulldozed into a single ravine. Coal turned into diamonds under the heat and pressure his fantastic weight caused, his wagging tail cleared the skies in miles, and loomed over the next village. Even the smallest scales were measured in hundreds of feet in diameter, and everything else were bigger than that: claws alone rivalled with the tallest anthro-made structures, the legs were pillars to heaven, the belly replaced the skies...
He slowly shook his head up in the Stratosphere, and finally opened his eyes.
“RIA? WHERE ARE YOU?”
What they saw cased a collective gasp.
“Imp-p-p-p-possible!” whispered a general, and he fainted.
Ada swiped the entire mushroom cloud with a single tail wag, cutting it in half, and then blasting the remainings away. He blinked a few times in confusion, and then finally he looked down, only to see a dragoness only a fifth of his size.
“RIA?! OH MY GODS, YOU LOOK SO SMALL!” he gargantuan dragon chuckled. “I COULD PICK YOU UP LIKE A DOLL!”
“NOT FUNNY. I WAS ALREADY SOMEONE’S TOY! WHICH REMINDS ME, WHERE IS THE KID? CAN’T SEE HER.”
Ada looked around. He couldn’t see her either. She should be like twice the size of Ria. Maybe she shrink back? Ada’s mountain of tail hit the ground a few times from excitement.
Then he noticed the mountains in the distance.
Mountains much bigger than HIM. Stretching on both sides in the distance. Ada gulped as he realized they were oddly the size of a dragon’s leg in a sitting position...
High above him, way up the thermosphere, scratching the edge of the outer space, an utterly humongous head started to cry.
“THAT HURT! I WANT MY MOMMY!”
Half the globe felt her shivering body, the tear drops created new lakes during their impact.
An entire world screamed as they saw a 250 miles tall dragon girl sitting on the entire countryside, sobbing uncontrollably. Her tail ended up in a different country than her paws, which were towering over another city, turning their sky seemingly night time with their shadows. The soles alone were longer than the city’s entire width.
She probably didn’t even notice that. For her, the whole world was flat, curving at the distance.
“SUKOTTO...” gulped Ada, looking up, seeing nothing but scales around. “PLEASE TELL ME YOU CAN REVERSE THIS...!”
“SURPRISED?!” asked Ria incredulously. “DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW EASY TO SURPRISE A KID?! THEY WONDERS AT LITERALLY ANYTHING!”
Ada nodded in agreement. “THIS IS BAD, REALLY BAD...! SUKOTTO, YOU MUST GO BACK WORKING ON THE SHRINK POTION! I DON’T THINK WE HAVE ANOTHER CHOICE...! AND TO AVOID FURTHER CATASTROPHE, ME AND RIA WILL BE THE TEST SUBJECTS.“
With that Ada used his increased eye sight and helped the tiny-biny shaman down from Liz’s leg. She didn’t even felt the removal of the ‘morsel’. Ada placed him down near the a ancient temple. “I HOPE YOU STILL FIND SOMETHING USEFUL...”
“AND WHAT DO WE DO IN THE MEANTIME?” asked Ria.
“WE HAVE TO CONTAIN THE CHILD SOMEHOW. IF ONLY WE WERE BIGGER...” then he felt something in the air. He took a deep breath, sucking a lot of clouds in, but something salty in the air too. He felt a huge body of water nearby – only a few dozens of miles away. “HOW THIRSTY ARE YOU, RIA?”
The smallest dragon of the trio licked her lips.
A few minutes later they arrived at the edge of the ocean. It looked like a lake with standing water – the waves were microscopic for both of them. Ria took a deep breath, the salty water tickled her nose.
“GOOD FOUNDING, ADA! YOU ARE A GOOD SEEKER.”
“DID I JUST HEARD SOME COMPLIMENTS?” asked the bigger giant with a smile. Then he had an additional idea: as the giant dragoness stepped into the water, and leaned down for her drink, he gently pinched her tail and started to pull it...
The 5 miles tall Ria marched into the ocean, causing lesser tsunamies around. Her paws already sank so deep into the soil her toes dug up old ships and all kind of treasures, but all of those were minusculed comparing to their vast sizes.
She dug her snout into the water, and gave it a lick.
"UGH! SAULTY!"
"TRY TO DRINK IT ANYWAY," suggested Ada. He was holding the tip of Ria's tail, and gave it a gentle pull. Ria saw imagine stars fleshing in front if her eyes, and she felt dizzy. But she already felt the growth renewing in her veins.
Pull... Stretch... Grow...
She forced her head back into the water. Luckily the growth filled her with endorphins, which lessened the strange taste on her tongue, making it easier to gulp. As she sucked up enough water to fill a swimming pool with each second, her growth sped up drastically. From 5 miles she grew to 7 miles, then to 10 miles in no time, and then jumped to 15 miles... Ada had to step further and further as the tail lengthened between his fingers.
Pull... Stretch... Grow...
Sweet, sweet liquid...
20 miles - only a head smaller than Ada, and they only started the process a minute ago.
Pull... Stretch... Grow...
"ONCE YOU GROW MASSIVE WE JUST HAVE TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO JUMPSCARE THE KID," noted Ada, and he applied even more forces to the pull.
In no time she surpassed her hunter partner. With her 30 miles tall frame she also cast a shadow to the nearby fishing villages - then her colossal paws, each growing to 5 miles in length, bulldozed them entirely.
It was a miracle that all of them were evacuated, however even the nation's evacuation plan was running out of possible locations...
40 miles became 50 miles, which turned to 70, and her growth was still speding up. They were able to measure the drop of the level of the ocean, forst by inches, then by feet. 100 miles, 150 miles, she already multipled her previous size with a factor of 30. Ada found harder and harder to pull the vast tail that surpassed his entire body. Then the tail rushed through him, and he found himself at the base of a colossal leg...
Ria reached 250 miles in height, just like Liz. She stopped drinking as she couldn't take anymore, but the residual power still grew her a little bigger - just a humble 50 miles extra.
Ria was the biggest dragon of them all once again, one who became an entire nation on his own, each legs deserve a different zip code.
"THE EARTH CURVES AT THE HORIZON," said the dragoness with a voice shaking the continent. "WE SHALL INFORM SUKOTTO THAT IT IS NOT FLAT AS HE PREVIOUSLY TOLD US," her chuckle caused an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2.
“HER SIZE DIDN’T CHANGE.”
“GOOD.” Ria stretched, ploughing another village with her multi mile tall toes. From up there the surface of the planet looked like a patched blanket, even the major cities looked like tiny specks of rocks and light. Mountains and valleys were nothing but scars, the forests were carpets with the softest fibres, rivers looked like the path of a rain drop. She even took breath carefully because it stirred the atmosphere. The clouds couldn’t reach her ankles.
“GO FIND SUKOTTO. I TRY TO KEEP THE CHILD AT BAY, WITHOUT SURPRISING HER.”
Ada nodded. With a single move he turned around and found the tiny hole he suspected the shaman’s local. “SUKOTTO! TELL ME YOU ARE FINISHED WITH THE POTION! I DON’T THINK WE CAN KEEP UP WITH THE KID IF SHE GROWS AGAIN.”
Meanwhile, Ria slowly approached the child. When Liz looked up, she surprised by the sight of the nearly equally big adult, resulting a 'smaller' growth spurt of 50 miles. New they were the same, but because she was just a youngling, she seemed to be the bigger.
"NO, NO, NO! DON'T BE AFRAID! AND DON'T BE SURPRISED!" said Ria with a sweet tone. She knew the kid can't understand her, but maybe her tone can calm her down, preventing further growth spurts. It seemed it worked; the child was watching her with a tilted head, her tail even wagged playfully. The landscape changed again under the massive organ hitting the ground repeatedly.
“I GUESS WE NOW WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS.” He then sat down, waiting for the effect.
Liz in the meantime turned her head away from Ria, and noticed the 10 times smaller Ada near her paw. “BABYDOLL!” She shrieked and lifted him up in the air. Ada felt the ground flying further beneath him with a speed of a horse. “AH YOU ARE SO ADORABLE! WITH A TINY BELLY AND FEET!”
“CAN YOU PUT ME DOWN, CHILD?” Ada looked at the multi mile wide eyes of the girl. Liz, who could not understand him still noticed he was asking something. “A TALKING DOLL! TICKLE-TICKLE-TICKLE!” She patted his head and back and played with him as if he was some kind of toy.
Ria shook her head. “AT LEAST YOU KEEP HER BUSY, ADA.”
“VERY FUNNY,” snorted the dragon, and he fiddled in the massive paw as the gargantuan fingers ran across him. But then a claw-finger touched his sensitive soles, and Ada shivered suddenly.
“OH, YOU ARE TICKLISH ON YOUR PAW!” she laughed, rubbing his soles more.
But it was more than that. Energies rushed through Ada once again. He hoped this time it will be a shrinkage...
Liz shrieked, surprised from the ‘doll’s’ sudden size changing. As a result she started to grow as well, up to 320 miles, then 340... She accidentally knocked Ada, who lost her balance, and fell right through Liz’s mountainous tail.
Liz’s tremble quaked the entire planet.
Both growing dragons sped up their fantastic biggering from unbelievable to incomprehensible numbers. Entire nations vanished under a child’s rump, leg or tail. She grew all up to 500 miles, while Ada reached 100. Liz dropped her ‘toy’ as her own body grew uncontrollably, and the massive dragon hunter fell to the ground with a thud, sinking mountain deep into the surface. Her paw landed on top of Ria, who held her arms up to protect herself, but this meant she touched Ada’s hypersensitive soles – Ada tripled his ginormous size to 300 miles, shaking the very tectonic plates under his vast mass.
“OH NO... I THINK TICKLING IS MY NEW TRIGGER...” Ada gulped as he followed Liz by growing to 500 miles tall.
The entire planet suffered from the two dragons as they grew bigger... And bigger... And bigger.. .
The 1000 miles tall dragons outgrew even the biggest rivers on the planet. Their vast bodies span across the nations, their tail replaced lakes, mountains and planes, their feet squeezed the tectonic plates further from each other. Magma bulged wherever they stepped, cities vanished under the toes, airplanes and satellites hit the gargantuan scales. 1200 miles turned to 1500 miles, and they still grew bigger, racing with each other who can be the most gigantic creature ever...
"SUKOTTO!" his voice shook the very planet. "TRY TO MAKE A GROWTH POTION! MAYBE YOU MESS IT UP ENOUGH TO FUNCTION AS A SHRINK POTION!"
Then he leaned down, searched for the bug sized Ria - who, despite being the third biggest creature in the universe, was minusculed by the other two -, and grabbed her by the tail. Ria gulped as he ascended into the atmosphere, but with that she started to grow as well.
"I NEED YOU TO MAKE THIS CHILD BEHAVE," said Ada.
Liz, who was growing faster than Ada, played with the planet by picking up entire landscapes and put them somewhere else. Her giggle alone caused earthquakes off the scale.
"THIS IS NONSENSE!" said Ada as he roared, bulging up another 1000 miles higher. Each of the two bigger dragon occupied one hemisphere of the planet; their vast paws became the skies as they stepped over the landscape. "THIS BALL IS SHRINKING BENEATH ME..."
Liz giggled, giving a hug to the dwindling planet under her. So far it was like a giant beach ball to her, but it was no question that it's about to change in the near future.
Ada kept pulling Ria's tail to make her taller as well, and she already reached 1000 miles in height. "WHERE DID SHE GO?" asked the lesser giantess, trying to see over the horizon.
Then a vast shadow engulfed the entire planet. Both Ada and Ria looked up... and up... and up...
A truly gargantuan draconic child head, as big as the entire planet, loomed over them. Liz's body was floating behind, claiming more and more of the vast space.
"CHRISTMAS BALL!" she shrieked, curling his fingers around the continents.
"UHM... SUKOTTO?!" asked Ada, shivering. "IF YOU STILL HEAR US, WE MIGHT NEED YOU!"
"I WILL TAKE THAT, THANK YOU!" said Ria, and she reached down to the earth while Ada was still holding her tail up in the atmosphere. Between her fingers entire cities could hide, and she picked up the one she suspected Sukotto could be. She tossed the whole country into her mouth. Luckily, the sudden breeze blew Sukotto away, right onto her snout; like a snowflake in the wind, he landed softly on the gargantuan snout.
Ria gulped, waiting for the result of the supposedly growth potion. "I HOPE YOU MESSED THIS UP TOO, OTHERWISE WE SOON BECOME ONE WITH THE HEAVENS!"
Ria was getting lost between the celestial sized giants' scales together with the planet - until the latest growth potion kicked in. With a blink of an eye she quadrupled her fantastic size, then again, then again, joining them in their endless growth.
"LOOKS LIKE OUR SHAMAN KNOWS ONLY HOW TO BLOW THINGS UP," she said, her voice boomed through the space despite there was no air around. It seemed that Sukotto's magic broke the laws of physics a long time ago.
The three giants were still growing, making their home planet look like baseball... then a golf ball... then a pebble... They were reaching millions of miles in height and length, and approached two millions... five millions... ten millions... Even the Sun looked like a lightbulb - or in Ada and Ria's case, a firefly.
But none of the two was prepared for Ria’s upcoming spurt.
The dragoness, who was stuck under one of Ada’s claw, felt a tingling sensation. She took a deep breath, trying to get rid of the irrigating feeling...
Then she let out a powerful sneeze.
With that, the latest growth potion unlocked it’s true powers, and the dragoness blew up in size – not doubled, not even tenfold, but she grew A HUNDRED TIMES BIGGER.
She waved at the other two, before she exploded A HUNDRED TIMES MORE again...
10 thousand AUs, or 0.1 light year in just a few seconds... The entire solar system laid around her gargantuan body.
Then she hit a wall. When she looked up, she saw the toe-claw of an even more colossal being - Liz, who was so amused by the strange surroundings and the super-growing dragoness, that her own growth exploded by many order of magnitude.
"SMOL DOLL!" She laughed, grabbing the "tiny" dragoness who was smaller than a flea next to her. She laughed, then expanded to 100 light years tall.
Galaxies swam within her reach.
And just when he thought he lost sight of the other giants, Ria sneezed so loud it shook the fabric of the universe. She instantly grew ten times as big as Ada, swallowing supervoids, and then grew even bigger.
“IS THERE A LIMIT AT ALL?” the million light-year tall gisntess asked, her voice filling the observable universe.
A million light year was enough to measure their body for a few moments, then it became too small to measure even their toes. Their growth was accelerating, consuming every object occuring in the universe, no matter how small or big were they. The three giants quickly replaced the fabric of the material world. Galaxies lived within their cells. Atoms loomed over solar systems. Quarks floated together with giant stars and planets...
Ten million light years... Hundred million... A billion...
Then everything vanished as they reached the size of the entire observable universe. There were nothing left they could compare themselves to, except for each other, and judging by the size alteration, they were still growing bigger, and bigger, and bigger.
"NOW WHAT?" asked Ada in the endless darkness.
"AND HER CARETAKERS TOO," added Ada, pushing the giggling dragon kid further, who in response blew ten times as big as the adults. But they quickly grew up to her.
This went on for a while which Ada felt like an hour - time seemed to stop working at this size as well -, when suddenly they bumped into something, that was neither a limb nor a back or a tail.
"What is this?" asked Ada. It felt like a wall. He moved his fingers across the surface. It felt rough, like the side of a wooden furniture. Ria snorted, then she also placed her paw on it.
They they grew bigger again, and felt the same thing on the other side. It felt like getting squeezed inside a box!
"Donno... Come on, let's push it!" she said.
And the two dragons placed a leg against the back, and pushed the front with all their might. Liz saw them, then she decided to join their effort.
When the wall finally broke through, the three dragons rolled outside.
"What the hell?!" asked Ada in surprise. They were in front of Sukotto's cottage, near their village.
And they seemed to be... normal sized again. Even Liz, who chuckled, and ran toward a flower pot.
Ada looked back. Behind them was a wooden crate; its side wide open, and inside... nothing, just dark emptiness.
"Uhm... Sukotto? Are you here?" asked the confused dragon carefully.
"I had the strangest dream," he mumbled, looking at the other dragons. "What in the name of the spirits happened?"
Ada shrugged. "It seems that... we arrived right back where we started."
"I think I get it," said Ria as she stretched her limbs. "The shaman promised us to shrink back... So we shrank back... In a way. Like, remember that the entire land was spherical when we were massive? If you walk too much toward East, you end up on West. If you grow too much, you shrink."
"That makes absolutely no sense," replied Ada.
"Then how do you explain this...?" she pointed at their village.
"Uhm... magic?"
"Ah, there you are!" Suddenly the chief appeared. "Do you know how much damage you've done?!"
"Uhm... Hi boss!" Ada waved with his paw. "It's good to see you again properly!"
"Very funny! And who is that?!" he pointed at Liz, who were still playing around.
"Uhm... Someone we must escort back to her village..."
"Whatever. Come with me!"
They followed the boss, who led them into the forest, right behind a hill... Where an utterly gigantic, mindblowing sized valley occupied the lands where previously was an endless field of trees.
The toe part of a much bigger paw print, streched across miles upon miles upon miles.
"Ups," said Ada.
"Ups indeed!" yelled the chief, and he started a lecture how recless and dumb and irresponsible they are were, including the shaman Sukotto.
None of them noticed that Liz followed them. "Woah!" gasped the little girl when she saw the gargantuan paw print. She started shivering...
The End(?)
