Look, I understand you're trying to get me to do things that are popular so that i gain more of a following, but y'know, I' d just rather stick to doing mostly original work, and fanart every once in a while (i might draw Pokémon and Digimon etc. every now and then but as fanart and not as a gate to popularity). Admittedly even though i sometimes feel like it's not worth it, I never really did this for popularity/fame so i have to constantly remind myself of that.

But, thank you for believing in me at the same time :) I'll do my best to get back into a rhythm where I draw more often. I've done something new recently and it felt good to work on that, so I have no excuse at this point XD

No problem! I just hate to see good artists quit or leave because they lose their motivation.

Ahem, but yeah, to be honest your community sparked my creative flame back a bit after I've got a lot of positive response from posting my art in there, so let's just say I kinda regret even posting this journal LOL

it's hard to be self motivated, especially with the internet and social media, i think a lot of artist struggle with this.. its really hard to feel seen ): You can always try things to encourage more feedback but there's no guaranteed way. what i WILL tell you is that advice like "this is what to draw to get attention" is probably not helpful for finding your own motivation.

yeah, I had to remind myself that I'm not doing this for attention/popularity/fame or anything like that. Sure it feels kinda gratifying when people see and enjoy my art, but at the same time, I'm fine doing my own thing regardless.

your art is quite good I'll be honest with you on that. more so there are most likely a LOT of people who do care about your art so that being said... drawing things to get more attention on your stuff... while in the short term it'll draw in the crowd in the long run it'll make you seem like another common joe. I can say that self motivation is the hardest thing to do since it's quite the pain. Besides that social media and the current situations going on sure don't help matters.

You be yourself, you do your own art, you keep your own style, if you want to do some crowd grabber art works then feel free, if you want to do your own stuff then go right ahead. This is one of the creative fields you do what you enjoy and tell the world to go screw off if they don't like it or otherwise.

Be honest with yourself and your art is all I can really say.

Indeed, I'd rather do my own thing regardless of popularity and attention it gets than fall victim to the trope of drawing things for the numbers. Heck, I'm okay with not getting commissions from people, mostly cause I'm inconsistent and have trouble with deadlines (procrastination is ever rampant lol)
