Whelp, things haven't been progressing well since that last 3D image set. It's thankfully just annoyances compared to the life threatening virus circulating outside but this is going to put a dent in progress.
Firstly, I have been running dry of mental 'clicks' to expand the few ideas I have. As such, I've been instead been doing mostly maintenance updates while researching new stuff, but there hasn't been anything substantial on the "Let's get this done" out tray. This is getting to be quite a road block that I hope I be able to fix once I get a hang of new tricks in Blender 2.92.
Secondly, the entire TO THE MOON prices of all modern PC parts pretty much halted my plans to upgrade this quarter for proper simulations and shorter render times. It was bad enough in terms of supply back in Q4 2020 but now it is both lack of supply and everyone rising prices to profit off the demand. A 5900X that costs more than a 3950X which already has gone up in price? Oops. It's also bonkers that my old GPU I bought two years ago now now sell for more than the price I paid for it! The lack of VRAM headroom on most of Nvidia's lineup except for RTX 3090 is also a huge stumbling block in my appetite to upgrade, 8 GB is already pushing the borderline on some scenes for 8K VR resolution and I doubt 10 GB would last that long without needing another upgrade. As this is really more of a side hobby than an actual livelihood, I simply can't justify spending that money to give Jensen an extra layer of cryptocurrency DOGE fur coat on his jacket.
And lastly as if Jensen had planned for it all along, one of my GPU fans is having some issues. Thank goodness there's a replacement part for it available from Aliexpress but for now I'm going to have to limit GPU usage to reduce damage until that part arrives, which is probably going to take between a month or more. I might get smaller snippets done but don't expect much, my current CPU nowhere near the render capability of my GPU. I'm also probably going to buy a few other smaller upgrades to keep this old workhorse chugging along for a bit more. I had intended to retire it for a secondary render machine this quarter but looks like it's going to last much longer than that. Sigh.
TLDR: It's going to be while before there be more substantial 3D stuff posted here.
Now pass me all the Ether.

In the meantime, I think those donations would be well better served for other charitable causes as these issues are honestly trivial compared to the horrors that so many others are going through in this pandemic.

Bubble? What's that? =O=;
Anyhow, it really sucks to deal with for anyone in the unfortunate position of trying to upgrade a computer right now. I'm hopeful that you find what you need for a good price, nothing's worth being scalped.
At least the CPU side is stabilizing a bit, I hope to get that new CPU/MB sometime as I think it is a much bigger bottleneck for me now.
