Eagle Scout
So, for those of you who don't know, I'm a boy scout
Big shocker I know. And let me tell you tonight I finally finished something that started back when I was 6 years old, and through out the last 12 years of my life I have finally accomplished the goal I set of for so long ago.
Needless to say I'm a little proud of myself, and I that I have a good reason to be.
For all of those who don't know what it takes to be an eagle here is a synopsis of what someone has to do before achieving the rank.
-Participate actively in a unit for a MINIMUM of 3 years, and while being involved you must hold 18 moths of an elected position
-Achieve 21 merit badges, including the 11 required badges
-These badges include, Camping, Hiking/Swimming/Cycling, Lifesaving/Emergency Preparedness, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Personal Management, Personal Fitness, Family Life, Environmental Science, First Aid, and then ten elected badges
-Provide over 100 hours of community service
-Organize, and lead a public works project that benefits the community while requiring a minimum of 100 man hours of labor
-And to have completed all of these tasks, plus more, before you turn 18
And regardless of how you view scouting, I understand its not perfect or anywhere near it, but what being an Eagle scout is takes so much dedication it is hardly something you can scoff at.
And I just got it
12 Years in the scouting program, and 7 years in Boy Scouts, and finally, it came to a peak tonight.
I'm proud of myself ^^
